The women's game is listed as a 7pm start on Hope's athletic site.

Check again, Sac?  On the link you gave, I see the 12:30 p.m. women's start time . . . and think Happy Calvin Guy's reasoning makes good sense.

My non-refreshed page said 7:30, they changed it, very recently in fact.

The MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be going on at Calvin the same day. Parking could be an issue. The meet will be breaking during the time of the men's game, but I expect it to be pretty hectic at the fieldhouse that day.

GreatScot!?

This is a big week for the Scots and can have a big influence on conference standings. On Wednesday they face a tough Adrian team on the road. Adrian has been a tough place to play for the Scots and these second half road games will determine their place in the league. I am a little worried that they will be too focused on the game Saturday against that one team from Holland and overlook their game Wednesday.

Your emphasis on diving is odd.

Must be a Greg Immink reference.

That may be a finalist for MIAA board "Post of the Year." Have to run it by HC though to see if it qualifies since he's the founder of that award.

Alma 85
Kalamazoo 80

That makes twice this season that the Hornets have nearly pulled off a major upset over the Scots. Alma nipped Kazoo by one in overtime back on January 6 at Anderson AC.

Most interesting thing to me is that I had checked Massey Ratings predictions for Saturday's MIAA games and Ken Massey's algorithm gave Alma a 100% chance of winning over Kalamazoo. :o Got it right.

Word on the street is that Alma sold out their number of tickets for the Hope game already and a fan bus at the college according to my daughter sold out in one hour. Looks like it is going to be crazy in Holland! I'm share Alma's student section will be better than Hope's.

Hope's student section's Twitter account tweeted out that they're treating it like a Calvin/Hope game with ticket quotas, etc.

The tweet has led to some pretty funny banter back and forth as well between the school's respective student section Twitter accounts and the students themselves.

Not as odd as you think.

Also, it was a charge by Veldhouse. Refs got it right.

Yeah... not likely that the traveling Scots will compare. That's not the point, for me, though. I'm glad to see that they've taken the initiative to travel to Holland. I've talked for a couple years now about how the MIAA needs things like this to make it more competitive and exciting. These kinds of things can really help the league grow. Hopefully, this isn't just a flash in the pan.

If the Diving on Saturday turns out as well as Immink's flopping excellent defensive positioning did, you should enjoy your day immensely  ;)   It's actually been quite refreshing to see that with the new points of emphasis with officiating this year, flopping is being rewarded less than it used to be.

In looking up a Hope box score last week I stumbled across the write-up for a reunion of former players that Hope held at a recent Saturday game.  Looked like a pretty cool event and brought back some memories of playing against a bunch of those guys.

And lest any Calvin faithful think I've gone all HopeConvert on you and gone over to the dark side  :(, you should also take a few minutes to read the recent article in the Hope Sentinel following the Hope-Calvin game :

http://www.hollandsentinel.com/sports/20160128/dan-daddona-hopes-win-over-calvin-will-springboard-big-finish

The article was, well, simply...incredible on so many fronts that I don't even know where to start--so I won't.  Let's just say that I have a newfound appreciation for oldknight's writing and analytical skills, and I want to publicly apologize to him for minimizing the fact that he did in fact save me from certain destruction by motivating himself to handle the intense pressure that comes with cleanly handling a laser headed into the stands right at me, particularly in light of his recent failures.  oldknight, you're the best!
