Anyone have thoughts on MIAA MVP because I am pretty stumped.

Covile, Holmquist, Nikodemski, Gardner, Benson?

This could change after this weekend as Albion is the only team I haven't seen play yet...

1) Holmquist
2) Covile
3) Nikodemski
4) B Gardner
5) L Gardner

The reason I give the edge to Holmquist or Covile is that without those 2 players on their respective teams, Trine and Adrian are most likely below average teams in the MIAA.  Hope and Alma are still at the top of the league even if they didn't have Gardner or Nikodemski.

If I were doing this based on best overall team player who has all the tools:

1) Nikodemski
2) B Gardner
3) Holmquist
4) Covile
5) Daley

With Holmquist and Covile, Trine and Adrian are already below average teams.  One is 6-7 and the other is 5-8.

Hands down, Nikodemski is MVP this year.  Alma had a remarkable season and without Scott they are just another team trying to make the playoffs.  Most impactful player for a top tier team.  All others mentioned are very worthy but Nikodemski stands out.

I really don't like the miaa.org website, but one among the many problems is the failure of livestats to be, well, live. This seems to me to be an important feature.

This. A million times this.

The schools run the live stats. MIAA.org and D3hoops.com just link to them. If the stats aren't updated, that's on the schools.

Is there any like "standing room" for the game(s) at Calvin on Saturday?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Not 100% positive, but I don't think they do that.

Will Hope be providing live video for all the tournament games? That's a lot of work for 4 games in one day. I can't imagine this format will last long.

Calvin at Trine highlights

Trine does a really good job with this, but do they only do highlights for games they win? Aren't there some highlights for games you lose, too? I wanted to see the Alma OT game highlights at Trine. I watched it online, and they had different broadcasters for that game. They definitely weren't the ones in the Calvin highlights.

The overdubbed announcer on those Trine highlights is the radio pbp guy from WEAX, whose name for some reason escapes me right now.

Speaking of announcers and video broadcasts, I'd add a shout-out of appreciation to the Hope video crew, which does an amazingly professional piece of work . . . with multiple camera angles, occasional replays, and excellent announcing. Way beyond what I've seen elsewhere in DIII video broadcasts. It reminds of In Search of Excellence, which reported that excellent companies such as IBM often were not the first to do something, but when they did would do it to a high standard.

I also think the radio duo has been outstanding. They make it easy to mentally follow what they're describing, with good pre- and post-game interviews (professionally handled by Coach D), and with well-done color commentary.

But I also agree that the MIAA website might use some rethinking.

I believe Aaron Coyle is the name you're looking for...and he's one of the best in the business at the Division III level.

Agree with everything you say.

I would add that there are actually 2 separate crews that produce the webcasts of the games.  The communications department, which runs with a pretty large crew, and the events and conferences department, which runs a relatively pared-down crew.  That may explain why you might notice some differences between one game and another.  For example, the use of replays.

Either crew does a fantastic job.  Well worth the wait.

They must have a few different broadcast teams, then.

I hope Hope has video for all games, because it's going to be hard for most people to make it to early games on Friday, especially from far away.

Yes, Hope will be steaming all of the games next weekend.
