Thanks for your response, Dave.  I'll just conclude by saying I had a hard time believing he was the recipient of the Conference player of the year, which at the time may have been the only award bestowed.  Usually, you can spot a great one and comment that it's too bad he is having an off night.  Not so this time.  He looked very average.  Having said that, he obviously had a great year and really helped his ream.  Wishing I could have seen it....again, congrats to him for all the recognition.

I completely see why he was conference player of the year... just as he was first team All-American. He is a very good talent... just ran into a challenging weekend.

The forthcoming post-season ban probably won't hurt that much though.  :P ;)

Was told after the fact that I was watching Adrian head coach Mark White's son tonight.  Darian Owens-White is the River Rouge point guard and a terrific player.  Could be something if he ends up at Adrian.  I believe he holds an offer or two from MAC schools.

His team finished one short of Breslin, losing by 7 or 8 to Williamston in a really good and interesting game over here at Charlotte HS.

Word on the street is that Alma has picked up a commitment from 6-3 slasher Ben Lubitz from Mio. Was a 2000 point scorer in high school, and has been mentioned in Mlive articles as being "on the bubble" for the Mr. Basketball watch list.

Don't know anything of the kid personally, but sounds like a nice grab for the Scots.

Twitter says he's going to walk-on at Grand Valley State.

Not unless it includes tennis! ;D  If they were 'buying' football and basketball players, they should demand their money back.

Kalamazoo College statement.

3 years, yikes.   One point of the statement that isn't clear is the second paragraph:

The NCAA placed K on probation for a period of three years and placed a ban on postseason competition, including conference tournaments; regular season conference championship consideration; and NCAA championship opportunities, for any team whose roster contains one or more student-athletes who received financial aid impermissible according to NCAA rules. As of March 2016, all Hornet Athletics teams have at least one student-athlete who receives this type of financial aid.[/b]

That last bolded bit makes it sound like every sport was affected.  It also sounds like K has a path to avoid any kind of post-season bans.

Does the ban include the Conference baseball tourney?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

As a Hornet alumnus, yesterday was certainly a disappointing day.  The one thing I can take solace in is that the NCAA found there was NO intention to circumvent the rules.  However, I never imagined K would find themselves in this situation.

Also, in reading the report,  baseball coach Mike Ott certainly pushed the boundaries with emails to recruits and wording in regards to financial aid.

Grandville Calvin Christian wins its semi-final at the Breslin 65-42 over McBain. The Squires' Tony DeWitte continues his late season surge and dominated with 26 first half points before settling for 31.. His college choices are either Calvin or Hope. One of these schools will get a really good scorer.
