Keegan George of Spring Lake chose Lake Forest over Albion (and probably 1 or 2 other MIAA schools)

"He's a pretty good on the ball defender. He gives us another ball-handler and his free-throw shooting (80 percent) has been huge for us this year."  --Bishop Noll coach Josh Belluomini

Trine announces they will be building a new 3,000 seat basketball facility.    http://trinethunder.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20160406uhqfmn

....with a bowling alley

.....and new ice arena with intent to join D3 mens hockey

Hope, Calvin, and now Trine going to have at least 3,000 seating capacity. Adds to my belief that the MIAA has the best basketball facilities in the region and one of the best in the country.

You stole my "Thunder" sac...(poor attempt at humor)

Here is another article on the proposed arenas.

http://www.trine.edu/news/2016/big-announcement.aspx

The basketball arena looks to be fronting US 20 right by the railroad tracks which will be on the extreme north side of campus.  Those around Trine and the Angola community had heard some rumblings about the proposed new arenas, but I hadn't heard anything in regards to a time frame until today's news conference.  I wish I had been able to attend, but had to work.  The growth on the Angola campus over the last 10 years is nothing short of extraordinary.  The new basketball arena will be a huge recruiting tool to already improving mens and womens programs.

So, a bit of a downsize?  I think Hershey Hall seats 4,500.  It was a carbon copy of Calvin's old Knollcrest Fieldhouse.  But the new arena will certainly be a welcome addition.  Donor must like bowling.

Hersey Hall doesn't utilize the endzone seating which was substantial at Calvin and I think the lower lever is a row or two less than at Calvin.   They haven't pulled out all the upper level seats for any MIAA game I've attended either.  I think I read 3,500 as capacity somewhere along the way.

Their largest crowd in the MIAA era is 1352 this year in the last game against Albion.  Prior to that they have had only 4 games recorded as over 1,000, all vs Hope and all between 1100 and 1200.

....I also think their reporting is a little light, there were a lot more than 433 at this years Hope game.

Justin Gibbons  6-5 G  Northville will attend Hope

Northville listed him as a guard, based on his video he's a wing, probably the 3, maybe the 4.

Probably the start of a bowling program - http://www.ncaa.com/sports/bowling.

Looks like Trine is continuing to take a page out of Adrian's playbook.  And when I say book, I do mean book...http://www.amazon.com/Crisis-Higher-Education-Colleges-Transformations/dp/1611861543

switching from Blue Cross to Priority Health just ain't enough.

Losing the broker's life insurance policy was probably a much bigger hit than switching carriers.....

A bowling program just might be a smart move for admissions.  Offhand I didn't see any schools closer than Trine who have bowling teams, and S.E. Michigan, N.W. Ohio, and N.E. Indiana are still bowling hotspots in a country that has largely abandoned the sport.  I believe that EVERY high school in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area has a varsity bowling team.  (Alas, it seems to be a waning sport even in this area - AA/Y had three large bowling centers ten years ago; we're now down to 1 and a half.)

Olivet has a new assistant coach in Steve Ernst.
http://www.olivetcomets.com/sports/mbkb/coaches/index

Ernst was actually an assistant at Olivet over the summer a couple years ago but was offered the Charlotte job before ever setting foot on the sidelines at Olivet.

Interesting saga this past Winter if you lived around these parts.
