Yep, that's my bad. I skipped over the "short-hand" part of your post.

Alma put out a season in review.  Worth the read
http://goalmascots.com/sports/mbkb/2015-16/releases/20160422ct0nm5

"With Fairchild, Gernaat and Tyler Edwards providing the senior leadership next season, to go with key juniors Jason Beckman, Doug Bradfield and Kevin Gamble – the Scots will have the talent to play with anyone."

I think I agree, although I'm anxious to see how fluid their offense is without Nikodemski distributing the ball... As of right now, I'm not sure which team looks stronger for next season on paper.

Hope - Brushweiler, Blackledge, Stuive, Hawkins, Carlson
Alma - Gernaat, Gamble, Bradfield, Fairchild, Beckman

HOPEful -

What do you know about the players on HOPE's JV that may be able to contribute on Varsity next year & what about the Freshman - looks like a strong group of freshman. The five you mention are good but will need some help from the JV guys and freshman.

Looks like PG Brandon Fuller of E Kentwood might also be attending Hope.

HopeKnight,

Of the incoming freshmen, I am most excited about Riley Lewis. I think he has the chance to contribute immediately. That being said, Hope has a log jam at the guard position. With Chad, Dante, and Mitchell all returning, the need is less. Still, as a pure scorer that would be going to a D1 program if he were 6'4", it's hard not to be optimistic and excited.

The three sophomores I'm most inclined to say could make an impact next season are Teddy Ray, Pete Smith, and Robert McGivney. Pete would join the aforementioned log jam. At 6'5", I can imagine Teddy Ray and Cody Stuive creating matchup nightmares on the wings. I don't know enough about Robert, but just like Brock and Harrison needed Keith to step up several times last season, Harrison and Keith will need the same thing this season and I hope that weight doesn't fall on Cody.

It was also brought to my attention that I was forgetting Dennis Towns, probably because he was hurt last year.

Admittedly, McGivney might not even make the team. A lot depends on how many/who of Hope's remaining recruits commit to Hope.

Thanks for the update on the players - some of the young guys should have an impact! My concern with some of the new smaller guards is whether they will be able to defend at this level! Both Dante at 5'10 & Chad at 5'7 are undersized and Lewis at 5'10 145 will be challenged defensively! Coach Mitchell likes to spread the floor with three guards and at least one will have to guard bigger players! Hopefully a tough defensive & offensive guard with some size & toughness will arrive! I also want to see another big develop as a traffic rebounder and a rim protector! They will be loaded with shooters but to compete for the conference the defense will be the key! Many threes, defense and rebounding will be what the team will need for success! Hope they all hit the weights and come ready to defend! HK

I agree to a certain extent. I think Hope will have some versatility this year at the 3. I think we will see a lot of three guard lineups, but Stuive (6'7"), Ray (6'5"), Towns (6'4"), Blackledge (6'6"), and Brushwyler (6'6") are all in the mix to get playing time too.
