I wonder if K wanted to go the younger route they'd look at Ryan Clark from Alma. Might still be a couple years out of being able to get his first head coaching job, but an alumnus who's certainly familiar with turning around a bottom dwelling MIAA squad.

Mike Thomas was in school when I was in school so he's still young, right?

Forever Young.

My wife and I still laugh at the time we attended a class reunion (can't remember if it was hers or mine), poked our head into the room, and quickly left, both of us thinking the same thing: we're in the wrong place--the people in this room are too old. Came back a few minutes later after asking for directions to the reunion. :-[ True story. :(

Though I like the Mike Thomas narrative, here's a hint to where the esteemed Mr Bell may be heading: think more along the lines of someone with a "notable offensive achievement" on his resume.

-Offensive
-Likes basketball
-Familiar with a losing program
-In need of a job

First let me disclaim (due to some PMs that indicate I may have caused some inadvertent confusion) - without thorough inside knowledge of anything, I can't exclude all the previous names mentioned. I am merely helping the Holmesian/Watsonian quest to find "the guy" that we speculate who Mr Bell indicated was in the conversation...not necessarily "the guy" who will eventually be hired.

But to that end, "the guy" I / he were referring to: next hint is think some "distant" ties to the GLIAC and MAC, as well as to the aforementioned Mr Bauer.

Whether he has thawed or not - the thought of him coaching in the MIAA again does give one chills

Matt Neil is well known.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Right? Sure he's well known, but for getting fired under extremely questionable circumstances that never came out to the general public. I'm sure he'd be a great hire for any school though  ::)

Champions of Character High School All-Star game was played last night at Davenport U and featured a host of local prep talent expected to attend a variety of D2, D3 or NAIA institutions this fall. Not sure all those listed on the rosters plan on playing college hoops, but players in the game headed to MIAA schools included Derek DeVries, Tony DeWitte and Sam Schellenberg (Calvin), and Jared Blum, Ben Ritsema, and John Wehrmeyer (Hope). The happy news for Calvin fans is that the game MVP was Derek DeVries whose team won 128-116.

Another Charger that'll be married and done with hoops by his 3rd season so he'll never get a chance to play for Bill Saul*.

*he will be converted on the road to Knollcrest.

I doubt any Calvin players will ever play for Bill Saul.   Bill Sall maybe, but not Bill Saul.  ;)

I'm sure he'll change his name to Bill Paul somewhere on the road to/from Damascus Marquette.
