Got a call today from someone who reads this board frequently, they called IU about tickets for the Hope exhibition game.

IU will begin selling tickets for its 2 exhibition games about 2 weeks before the game, (so figure around Mon. Oct 17).  IU does anticipate tickets will be available through their ticket office, though it was not really clear if that would be for IU season ticket holders or the general public.

I think it should be noted, both of their exhibition games last year against D2's Northwood and Indianapolis were effectively sellouts.  So, if your route is Stubhub.com and it likely will be, don't expect to see any tickets on that or any other secondary market until after the general sale begins.

From personal experience, if you buy tickets of any kind from Indiana University you can expect to be on their mailing and email list for approximately 10 years. :)

Also important, Hope will have no tickets so don't bother the Hope ticket office.  If you have your heart set on going, maniacally monitoring the IU website or Stubhub.com is highly encouraged.

Last,  DON'T BOTHER THE HOPE TICKET OFFICE :)

Was that call, by any chance, from someone at the Hope ticket office?

might be worth a call to IU ticket office as some D1 ticket office will set aside a small ball I of tickets for the visiting exhibition team fans. Also, if you know IU alums or students or someone who does, you might be able to score tickets that way.

Hope v. IU game will be fun! Prediction: IU 84 Hope 67 - may be closer than some might think!

Any new insights on players for Hope & Calvin - are either Holesinger &/or Vandebrug playing at Calvin this year and is there any confirmation on Beckman at Hope. Is he playing at Hope or just waiting out a year?

Hope is loaded with guards - interesting to see how many will be trying out and who really will be on Varsity and possible JV? Rumor has it that as many as 40 players are looking to play ball/tryout this year at Hope - some very good players may not be on either V or JV. At what point can players who don't think they will make it at Hope decide to move on to another program - Calvin has some bigs but few guards. Jim Schipper moved on many years ago to play at Calvin after a couple months at Hope.

Both H & C are excellent schools with great facilities - Hope is very good & rising while Calvin is a little down in hoops right now. I wonder if Vandestreak will be the guy to see Calvin rise again?

HopeKnight, that would be a huge and unexpected moral victory. Another possible score, given the size difference in the post, might be 121 to 43. Regardless, I agree: should be a fun experience for the team.

Rob Holmes suffered a knee injury this summer, Quinton Cook chose to focus on the classroom and other things outside of basketball and obviously Jason transferred to Hope...
Leaves a lot of minutes up for grabs!

Had the misfortune to see Rob Holmes knee injury in a game at the Courthouse in GR (I think I have that right).  If I'm remembering it right, wasn't he just coming back from a previous knee injury?  Felt really bad for the poor kid - an injury like that right before your senior season.

Yea he hurt his other knee his sophomore season in a Gus Macker, missing out on the whole season and then this summer he injured his other knee. Was hoping to see him in some of DJ Beckman's minutes from last year.

I am new to this board, does anybody know if Beckman is going to play at Hope this year.  They should be playing a lot of open gym right now.  What a great experience for the Hope players to play at IU!

I have read speculation that he won't. That it might be a stopping off type thing. But we will know for sure if he a) shows up to practices, b) is in uniform and on the bench for a game, and c) gets into the game.  ;D ;)

I would......

1.  Not expect to see Jason Beckman's name on Hope's roster

2.  but realize a lot can change between now and November.

I think I'd tend to agree with SAC: I've been told (by some non-Hope people, no less) that the D1 opportunities he was hoping for didn't quite materialize (this year). And that he is enrolling @ Hope, but just biding his time, waiting to see what happens in the recruitment of younger brother, and possibly making it a combo deal somewhere? Or if a D1 (or D2?) opportunity comes along for the following year, well there he's already sat out the required 1 year and is able to play right away.

I'm not really sure Jason Beckman fully knows that answer himself.  <shrug>

Fwiw, the rumor (from this morning even) is that Jason hurt his ankle recently, being so close to tryouts,  that question may have been answered for him.  But I never know what exactly to believe here so take it with a grain of salt.

I see that K college has posted their roster already.  The Dickerson kid is back along with some other returnees, they have 2 bigs back also.  I see them improving.
