Why wouldn't we be serious - it's very scientific/mathematical - if A > B, and B > C, then A > C so...

Ok, yes completely being silly about it  :o  ::)

They sure are!   Put that together with the comparative scores against Finlandia by Alma and Calvin, and the only thing we know for sure at this point is that other than with the exception of Hope and maybe Trine, anything can happen with any game between the rest of the teams.  As Yogi was so fond of saying, "That's why they play the game!"  But I do agree with earlier posts that between. second place and sixth place in the league anything could happen.  I like the fact that the league has become much more competitive than at times in the past.

Last year the league was competitive because everyone was good. This year might be the opposite.  :-\

What are the D3 transfer rules and are the MIAA conference rules tighter.

Can a player transfer from Alma to Calvin or Calvin to Hope or Hope to Calvin - mid year at the semester break and still be eligible to play immediately.

In D3 players are free to move after the season without sitting out as well - is that correct?

Years ago - I seem to remember Jim Schipper transferred from Hope to Calvin at the semester break - was he on Hope's team and then left for Calvin?

Finally, is Jason Beckman healthy and will he be playing at Hope this year - that would be another key player for Hope.

In D3 you can transfer from one institution to another in mid-season and be immediately eligible for your new school, provided that you meet all pertinent requirements.

Individual leagues sometimes have more stringent transfer eligibility rules than does D3 as a whole; I don't know if the MIAA is one of them in terms of mid-season transfers.

No rule in the MIAA about that. Most recently Jordan Denham transferred to from Hope to Adrian over The Christmas break in 2014

Hey y'all.  New to the forum, but I have been reading your board since spring. I appreciate your knowledge and passion for D3 hoops.  I don't have a dog in the fight as I have no allegiance to a particular MIAA school.  Know a few players and have met some of the coaches through my kid and I appreciate the quality of ball, and how hard they all grind.
As others have said, conference play should be interesting due to the parity,   It's cool nowadays that you can stream a far-off game that's a good matchup, but I also hope to check out a game or two live this season for the atmosphere. Played D3 back in the day and am only re-discovering it now.  Big follower of the NBA and DLeague as well.  Let the games begin...

I believe some conferences have "rules" about it and coaches have to sign off on it.. but most times, coaches do sign off on it since we are all about the student rather than the athlete at this level. That said, I am sure there may be examples where a mid-season transfer had to sit in a conference that had such a rule. As a division, no... but conferences can make such rules.

And Trine's best freshman is on JV, scoring 25 a game without much effort.

SBell...who is the Trine JV guy that is lighting it up?  The JV schedule on the Trine athletics website shows they've only played 1 game so far this season, have they played other games that aren't on the schedule?  I don't even see a JV roster, how many guys are on the JV team?  I am assuming Pelak and Somers are on it...

Wasn't at the Trine tournament today, just got back home.  Read the recap and box score of the OWU game.  Good to see the fight in them, could have packed it in when they got down 20, got it to 5 with 2 minutes to go.  A 7 point loss to a terrific OWU team is encouraging.

Shae Somers, scored 27 at Kellogg CC.

30 on Thursday ...

LaCrosse 64  Albion 61

Albion struggled to score all night long and every time they got it close Lax would pull away to an 8 or 9 point lead.  Spirited effort from Lax who I'm sure layed an egg at Luther the other night.  Decent size, a couple real athletic big men.  Should be a good match-up Saturday night at Hope.

On the Albion front.  Coach May still searching for the right front-line and lineups, young squad, good pieces not quite hitting together right now.  Kurt Douglas had a mixed game with some really good offensive and defensive plays and then some real bad ones.  Quay Burks had 3 really, really, really good moves for a D3 kid that should scare the pants off the MIAA, but then struggled on other shots and on the defensive end.  Rubio and Davis didn't impact the game much.

Fordham and Burks were Albion's first half offense and were both shutout in the second half.

Injury's----Robert Ryan was out again  Zahran didn't play tonight, not a long term thing.  Unfortunately it sounds like Ebeling their good looking 6-7 Freshmen might be out long term and could miss the rest of the year, tough blow I think.

Bonus---Saw 6-11 Ryan Lowe play some pretty decent minutes and kind of sparked the Britons when things looked like they may fall apart.
