When Chase Fairchild has to run 15 rows up the bleachers to retrieve the ball because there's no one at the game...
I figured there wouldn't be a large crowd today due to break starting, but thought it was weird that nobody decided to sit on the other side of the bleachers, 15 rows and 15 points, a double-double for Mr. Fairchild!

Kalamazoo's game with Rhodes was declared a no contest this afternoon due to humid conditions and a wet floor.  Will not be made up.

Kzoo is supposed to play Monmouth on the same floor tomorrow afternoon.

Lol I always think that's funny during winter break games at Art Smith. The students have monopolized that whole half of the arena so the truly is never anyone over there during games during break

Appears they got the floor dried out - as Kzoo won in OT 81-80 over Monmouth

Hopefully they can help bring up that MIAA win % over the next few weeks before conference play starts!

Hope 79  Spalding 51

Hope opened the 2nd half with a 16-2 run, shut it down not long after and coasted to victory.  Only 3 Fg's in the last 8 or 9 minutes.   Spalding is pretty young and not very good.

Hawkins 23,  Blackledge 16

Albion 80  Spring Arbor 75
Olivet 79  Johnson and Wales 78
Whitewater 85  Trine 60

Apologies from this SLIAC officianado on my SLIAC team not being able to perform at a very competitive level.  Spalding has been the cream of the crop in our conference over the last 5-6 years, but every program hits a lull, and unfortunately this their year... yes they are pretty bad, and unless they get better over Christmas, they already are out of the conference race.... wish we had been able to send up Webster, Westminster, Eureka or Iowa Wesleyan... would have been a far more competitive effort and a game that would have better shown the SLIAC's level of talent.  Also have wished for years that Hope would open communications with Wash U and perhaps set up a series so that both schools' fans could see these top notch programs.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Harrison Blackledge is at 979 career points after last nights game.  Potential for him to get to 1000 tonight versus Johnson & Wales.

If it was just Johnson or just Wales, I'd expect it. But going up against Johnson & Wales? I'm not so sure.

I like to think of them as the Outlaw Johnson Wales.

Coincidentally, that's how I thought about Mary Hardin-Baylor receiver T.J. Josey the past few weeks. :)

Mr. Ypsi

He got 23 in just 25 minutes, so he is now at 1,002 despite playing BOTH Johnson and Wales!

Since Hope was blowing them out early, the bigger question may have been would the coach leave him in long enough to do it! :P

Hope 100  Johnson & Wales 75

A pretty comfortable win where Hope hovered in the 60% shooting range all night.  Dante Hawkins was excellent both games this week, Blackledge was a little too strong in the paint for the Wildcats and Hope had a nice day from behind the arc.  JW made a good run late in the game of something like 14-0 to keep the margin reasonable I guess you'd call it.  Good to see Hope's bench get some well earned minutes these last two days.

Hope's off until next Thur when they play Williams(8-1) at Mt. Union a potentially huge game on Hope's schedule.

Olivet  66  Spalding 63
Alma 75  Willamette 67
Adrian 57  Defiance 50

The league went 7-1 these past two days and  badly needed those wins.  Three more important D3 opponents tomorrow and UMD for Adrian Friday before we shut things down for Christmas.
