Maybe he wasn't before and I hadn't noticed but Kevin Gamble is not on Alma's roster.  I know there was an injury and the possibility of his return discussed earlier this year.

He was re-evaluated in early December and he's going to have surgery over break, rough setback for the improving big man and the Scots.

As much as you hate losing the two bigs this year, if the freshman class keeps improving and growing as they are and should continue to, having that group as sophomores and juniors in their two seasons with Bradfield and Gamble (as opposed to freshman/sophomores) certainly should have the potential to field a pair of reeeeally good basketball teams.

Matt Trewhella was not on the bench last night and is no longer on Calvin's roster.

I've been told Trewhella has returned home to Indiana, and Preston Huckaby is apparently transferring. Neither on the roster.

Program's a mess. Fix the problem, the coach should go.

on Friday, Millikin will play at 2:30 and Calvin will play at 7:00 pm.   Any other result would have to be considered a major upset by Calvin fans.

While I agree with you that Calvin should be in the 7 p.m. game on Fri.  I also thought Calvin should have beaten Wheaton on the 10th.
Major upset is a bit strong.  I would go with disappointing, and leave it at that.  :)

The afternoon consolation game doesn't conflict with the UM football game.... That's a consolation in its own right.
Hope's playing as well, right?

The Friday games at Mt. Union are scheduled for 1pm and 3pm, so no conflict with the Orange Bowl.

Another kind of cool thing about the games at Mt. Union today is this tournament is 3/4's of the 1998 Final Four with Hope, Williams, Wilkes where UW-Platteville took home the big trophy.   Wilkes lost both games to Hope and Williams, while UW-Platteville beat both Williams and Hope.

Almost 19 years is a long time for these schools to cross paths again.

Millikin 68 Calvin 63.  Disappointed yes, surprised NO. :)
Like the Wheaton game on the 10th this is another game that Calvin should have won.  Millikin did what they needed to do to win so I give them credit.  Calvin once again failed to do what it needed to do to win.
I have followed Calvin basketball for over 50 years, and this has to be one of lowest points in program history.  >:(

Millikin out scored Calvin 39-15 from beyond the 3 point line. Gave up 2 offensive rebounds in the last 2 minutes that Millikin scored on.  From the video it didn't seem like a great effort.  Mike Siegel 19 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes of play.  Cam Denney awful shooting game and a terrible 3 point attempt when Calvin was down 4 with under a minute to go.

For a long time now I have thought that Calvin's men's basketball program has accepted losing games as the normal course.  The worst part of this is that it comes from the top down.  I bear no ill will against KVS (in fact he is really a very decent person) however, he has lost touch with the game, and the players.

Williams 91  Hope 85  OT

Heck of a ballgame in Alliance.  Hope gutted out the last 5 min of regulation and OT without Blackledge, made a great effort in OT but fall short.  Chad Carlson carried them in the 2nd half and OT after a rough 0-5 first half.  Carlson went 6-9 from 3 after the halftime finishing with 20, Blackledge 21, Hawkins 16

Though few attempts on the night Hope's downfall was a poor ft shooting effort at just 5-12, make their ft's and that game never gets to overtime.

Most likely Hope gets Wilkes tomorrow afternoon at 1pm.

Mr. Siegel played 2 minutes versus Anderson, and scored 0 points.
Mr. Siegel played 0 minutes verus Wheaton.
Mr, Siegel played 4 minutes versus Grace, and scored 0 points.
At least one other Calvin poster figured we had seen the last of Mr. Siegel.
How the heck did this guy get so much better sitting on the bench so long?  ???
