All 4 MIAA games were 1 possession games with under a minute to go.

Albion 69  Calvin 62
Alma 74  Adrian 70

The turnovers for Alma continue to be the biggest Achilles heel for this team. Last night it seemed that there was a really high number of times where players would leave their feet to attempt a pass, only to realize that pass wasn't open. Forcing the player to throw the ball away.

In addition to that, the Scots seem to frequently go through long spells at the end of the first half without scoring. Alma was at 36 points with 7:20 remaining in the first frame but only scored 5 points in the next seven and a half minutes.

Those are the types of things that need to be fixed in order to win down the stretch here. 16 turnovers at home is way too many, and only taking a 10 point lead into the half when it should've been a 20+ point lead are not things you can get away with against a good team.

On a positive note, Preston Laketa is going to be a stud. That kid has an unbelievably smooth looking jumper from the outside. I feel like every time he puts one up I expect it to go in. Steve Harvey is the same way. And Stevens just keeps impressing me too. This team's offensive potential is limitless if they can fix the turnover issue.

Of note following Saturday's game with Albion.

Chad Carlson (current player) went 4-6 from 3, raising his career 3pt total to 160.  This moved him past Chad Carlson's (current Hope JV Coach) 157, putting Chad Carlson (current player) into 3rd place all time.  He trails Ryan Klinger (163) and Joel Holstege (181) on the career list.  Chad Carlson (current player) is averaging 3.26 made 3pt per game this year.  IF he continues that rate, he would move into first place all time during the MIAA tournament.

He's going to come close to breaking the single-season records too:  62-143 right now

Most 3-point goals    84    Derek Van Solkema - 32 games    2007-08
Most 3-point attempts    207    Derek Van Solkema - 32 games    2007-08

Well last night certainly increased the possibilities of Chad reaching all of these milestones

This season he is now 72-160
For his career he is now 170-395

Hope's 3 ahead with 5 to go, hard to see them losing 4 let alone 3 but that's still out there.  But Hope's going to win this......probably.

Remaining games:
9-0  Hope  (@Alma, Trine, @Adrian, Kzoo, Calvin)
6-3  Calvin  (@Olivet, Alma, Kzoo, @Adrian, @Hope)
6-3  Alma  (Hope, @Calvin, @Trine, Albion, Olivet)
5-4  Trine (Adrian, @Hope, Alma, Olivet, @Albion)
4-5  Olivet (Calvin, @Kzoo, Albion, @Trine, @Alma)
3-6  Albion (Kzoo, @Adrian, @Olivet, @Alma, Trine)

2-7  Kzoo (@Albion, Olivet, @Calvin, @Hope, Adrian)   ---need to run table to get to 7-7, probably not going to happen
1-8  Adrian (@Trine, Albion, Hope, Calvin, @Kzoo)  ---best possible record 6-8, that won't make tournament.

Calvin @ Olivet is a swing game Saturday, as is Hope @ Alma.  If the hosts win either game that alters the next couple weeks significantly for tournament seeding probabilities.

Is Kzoo eligible for the MIAA tournament?  Trying to remember what "sanctions" are in place (if any).

There's a scenario where I can get a 2nd place tie with Calvin, Alma, Trine, Albion all at 8-6 still.

Last I knew, and this goes back to last summer, the post-season ban was lifted while the college went through the NCAA's appeal process.  I have not seen anything about a resolution of said appeal.

Wondering if anyone has heard any info about the MIAA tournament setup/schedule for this year?  Last year it was switched to a single site hosted by the regular season champions, with the semis on Friday, and the final on Saturday.  A quick search on the MIAA website revealed nothing regarding the scheduling of the tournament.

Still unsettled.  It is possible for one school to host both the men and women on the same day again, they were still discussing the schedule.

Feel free to email or message me with any other question you might have FDF :P

I've wanted the MIAC to switch to a single sight tourney for a while now. How did it work out last year for the MIAA, just out of curiosity.

Hope 93 Olivet 88

Chad Carlson 10-17 beyond the arc! :o

Chad Carlson made more three point shots last night than any Calvin team has made in any game this season, and he did so while shooting a higher percentage than the Calvin team shot in any game.

A couple weeks early, but does anyone have a guess how the Great Lakes regional ranking might look?

Not a couple of weeks - the first regional rankings come out next Wednesday.  There is a discussion of how the rankings might look on the Great Lakes Region thread.

Marietta  1.
Hope    2, 3 or 4
Hanover 2, 3 or 4
Mt. St. Joseph  3 or 4, maybe 5
John Carroll 5 or 6   (would be goofy if higher but some people think so)
Denison 5, 6 or lower

7,8,9  Is a a guess between ...
St. Vincent
Wooster
Ohio Wesleyan
Wittenberg
Thomas More
Anderson

.....probably
