This is random but on the tv broadcast Saturday they said that the last OT game for a Calvin-Hope game before that one was 2007 , when in fact it was 2003.  I'm curious how WGVU screwed that up. #FirstWorldProblems

Jeremy Veenstra's last game. He was spectacular that night with 29 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Unfortunately for Calvin, Don Overbeek was equally spectacular.
His greatest game. Left everything on the court. Still remember it fondly. Proud of him.

I apologize if this has already been said on here, but Jason Majerle - relative of Dan Majerle?

Jason is Steve's son, brother Ryan plays for Dan at Grand Canyon Univ.

As long as we're talking about recruits being related to famous people, is this kid related to the original Sam Tilden?

GreatScot!?

Very excited for the tournament tomorrow! Great opportunity for our young guys to get some tourney experience and I like our chances at winning it. Every team has shown potential to win which could set up for a fun three games in Holland!

I agree - especially about the excitement of it all.  My favorite part of the season is the MIAA tournament!!  Time for Hope to regain their form from earlier in the year (tourney in Wisconsin, at JCU, game at Calvin).

Every reason to expect tomorrow's conference tournament opener between Calvin and Trine to be every bit as close as the two regular season games these squads played. Massey says that on a neutral floor, Trine has a 53% chance of winning with a predicted score of 67-66. Actually, using Spockian logic, it predicts a final of 67.49 to 66.81, a score I think is unlikely to occur. Expect overtime.

Trine comes into the game pretty hot I think, having won 7 of their last 9. The only losses during that span were on the road--a three point defeat at Calvin when the Thunder coughed up a second half 15 point lead to Tony DeWitte, and an overtime loss at Hope when Trine again gagged on a second half, double-digit lead they held against the home team.

So you're saying that they have lost to Calvin and when they play in Holland.... Sounds good to this Calvin Fan! ;)

Congrats to Harrison Blackledge on being named MVP.  Its been fun to watch him develop as a player during his career, which seems to have gone by in a flash.

Hope landing 3 on the First Team All-MIAA hasn't happened in the era of the league choosing just six players(started in 2008).  In 2006 hope landed 3 on the 8-man All-MIAA Team.  It was a much more common thing then.

Geez, Calvin only got 1 recruit out of that group? And it's another coaches son so it hardly counts. Burning down the recruiting trail aren't we Calvin fans?

I'll regret this but I'm curious who you think Calvin should have landed off of that list.

An indication of how weak the league is. Hard to see a lot of these players being first team all league in years past.

Anyone else think that Tony Canonie should have won the league Defensive POY? Seemed like he was always guarding the other teams best player and seemingly shut them down.
