Funny you should mention Albrecht -- he was actually all set to attend Williams College (where I never heard mention of him as an elite recruit or anything, although I'm sure he would have been at least a very good player) before Michigan swooped in at the last minute.  Williams was FAR more upset when Michigan stole Duncan Robinson away ...

Not sure after tonight's performance that everyone would consider GRCH to be the best team in the state, but their victory tonight is the result of a bench player hitting a last second three.

I was at the game.  GRCH was inbounding the ball with 1 second on the clock.  The pass was received, the receiver turned, dribbled once, and shot. It hit nothing but the bottom of the net. Officials Ryan Huber, Arnulfo Perez, and Danny Sapp looked at each for a second and then Sapp raised arms signaling the basket good.  It was not a decisive call. I thought it was late.  GRCH blew a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter.  Van Tubbergen and Bosma were very good for West Ottawa, especially the 4th quarter.

There are a bunch of angles that @PrepHoopsMI on Twitter has retweeted.  I think he got it off in time.  Close call, but I think it's the right call after watching the videos.

West Ottawa never got the respect it deserved this year. When I saw them I thought they were a terrific team and Jake Van Tubbergen is an exceptional player. The Panthers only losses this year were to GR Christian, both of them close games.

Thanks for posting that. That is a great angle.  I would agree that the call was correct.

While we're on the topic of high school hoops, I see that the son of former Hope star David Meulenberg made a last second shot tonight to propel Covenant Christian into the state semiquarter-finals. Carson Meulenberg is a junior who has really come on this season and is definitely a player to watch next year as he considers his college options. I'm confident he can play at the D3 level.

West Side Report twitter account has retweeted several different angles of the GRC shot, looks good and the clock started on time.

This is Detroit Osborne and Detroit Collegiate in Class B, one official rules defensive foul overruled as offensive foul, Osborne wins by 3 think it was a 1 point Osborne lead when this took place.

The one the Detroit News published online shows the West Bloomfield player with the ball in his hands and 0:00 on the clock.
