per the SBell and the twitter verse

Trevor Manuel  6-8 F/C   Lansing Sexton--Oak Hill Academy--Lansing Everett--Oregon--Loyola Marymount will attend Olivet.

By my estimation the highest rated recruit to ever attend a D3 school in the rankings era.   https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2015/trevor-manuel-7292

Going to be interesting.

The MIAA and possibly D3 record for blocks is very much in danger.

My response was certainly not one of jealousy, but more my about what I perceive will be a "circus" around the Olivet team and thereby the MIAA this year.

According to this very brief article and his radio interview, Manuel plans to spend his last two years of eligibility at Olivet. This would, of course, be a new record for him.

Maybe a WILX camera will make it out to an MIAA gym for a change. ;)

GreatScot!?

Where does this put Olivet in terms of the MIAA race? I'm aware that it still is extremely hard to project at this point ???

Might as well throw darts at a dart board. I do think this could propel Olivet into the Top 4 discussion in the MIAA this year. It's going to be interesting to see how throwing a legit D1 talent onto a team that has struggled a bit the last few years and see how it works out. Going to be a lot of eyes on the MIAA this year.

Completely unprecedented, so who knows?! I realize that it's subjective, but I can't think of another case where a better (recruit ranking) player transferred to a worse team (coming off a 9-16 season and losing 6 of their top 7 scorers). All that being said, LeBron has shown how 1 transcendent player can take a team from bad/mediocre to elite.

This is Olivet's known recruiting class, I've bolded the guys I think will contribute right away with the caveat its mostly a guess.   Manuel and and Tracy Edmond are probably the only sure things to start, but all those transfers will contribute in some way.  Fomby, Roberts and McAddo are "old guys" 4 or more years removed from high school.   Edmond will probably be the best PG Olivet's ever had.

PJ Trammell and Thomas Tsalkitsis are the two regular rotation guys that return.  Quintin Way and Jordan Ellis played bit minutes here and there.  Worth noting Ellis was a Univ. of Toledo transfer, he has the skills to play at this level but hasn't shown a lot of on court discipline at some point he might turn that around giving Olivet two legit D1 transfers.

Freshmen
Spencer Naffzinger   6'4   Olivet   Grant
Logan Guenther   6'3   Olivet   Cheboygan
DeAndre' Robinson   6'3   Olivet   East Lansing
Donnie Alford   6'0   Olivet   Wyoming
Kylen Brown   5'9   Olivet   Michigan Center
Dylan Antcliff   5'11   Olivet   Clio
Delbert Redfield   5'10   Olivet   Olivet HS

Transfers
Tracy Edmond   5'10   Olivet   East Lansing
Mike Fomby   5'11   Olivet   Lansing Waverly
Dee Roberts   5'11   Olivet   Lansing Waverly
John McAdoo  6-4  Olivet    East Lansing
Brent Davis 6-2  Olivet  Plymouth
Trevor Manuel 6-9  Olivet  Lansing Everett

Olivet will field a team that's probably much quicker and more skilled than last year, with a dominant post who will impact the defensive end and rebounding better than any player since the McClary brothers.  The Comets might have finished just 5-9 in the league but they lost 3 games in their last 6 by just 5 points all against teams in the top 5, 2 they led into the final 10 minutes.  They weren't that far from being in the mix for top 4.

Its really a matter of how well they come together as a team since there will be zero residual team chemistry from last year to build on really.  But they have a dominant post and a great PG, you can do things at this level with that.

A starting 5 of something like

Edmond, Trammel, Robinson, Tsalkitsis and Manuel is actually pretty good.
