No transfers to speak of?

Sac informed me (and I confirmed with another) that Pete Smith transferred to Trine to play with his younger brother, Joe.

As reportedly did Tom Morrison (transfer, that is), Pete's HS teammate and Hope JVer last year...however, Tom's destination seems to be a tad farther from home, in the form of a new maroon-and-gold-tinged East Beltline zip code.
Ahh, so there was some Calvin recruiting in Indiana.  Good to hear.

Calvin may add another Indiana recruit, of sorts, Trine transfer Shae Somers.

2017-2018 Trine University MBB roster is up.  Talk about turnover!!  11 new additions, only 5 returners from last year....AND ZERO STARTERS RETURNING.

No Kyle Dodson, what??   No Ellis Cummings, huh??  Jordan Kreglow, nope.  We do have 6th and 7th men Myles Copeland and Langston Johnson returning, who no doubt will slide into the starting 5.

Some new names not previously mentioned in other posts, we knew about Pete Smith from Hope, but Brown, Hunter, Damon, and Warrick all transfers not talked about.  I've indicated where they were last year.  Hunter was a part time starter at Heidelberg as a freshman.  Brown is a nice addition, watched him play in HS.  Only recruit that was talked about in prior posts not on the initial roster is the DeHahn kid from Lafayette.

Could be a long year for the boys in blue.  Hey, at least we have the new barn to look forward to in January!!

Adrian's roster is up with nine freshmen and four sophomores.

I think maybe only three players have suited up for the Bulldogs before.

And lots of out of state guys - the most I can remember seeing on an MIAA squad:

9 from IN
4 from MI
1 from CT
1 from KY
2016, 2020, 2022 MIAA Pick 'Em Champion

Alma is clearly the early favorite to win the conference. I mentioned that to an Alma assistant when I saw him last winter at the MIAA tournament held at De Vos, and we discussed the expected return of Alma's key players. I made a mental note at the time that he didn't argue against my prediction.

Adrian's Jeremy Kalonji and Trine's Kelham Brown were teammates at Carroll HS in Fort Wayne and are new additions to their respective teams this year.  Ironic that they are both transfers from NAIA schools who played each other in the same conference (Kalonji with Saint Francis in Fort Wayne and Brown with Huntington College southwest of Fort Wayne).  Now they are going to be playing each other in the MIAA.

Hope's Teddy Ray, is also from Fort Wayne and played for Homestead, which is Carroll's biggest rival.  Will be interesting after watching these guys go at it in HS to do it again in college!

This is a picture of Jeremy and Teddy going against each other in HS, plus some other pictures including one of Kelham Brown.  Those Homestead and Carroll teams were LOADED with talent.  Biggest name was Homestead's Caleb Swanigan who went on to play at Purdue and is now in the NBA, Dana Batt also went D1 to Colgate.  Carroll also had a couple of D1 guys, Kyle Mallers to Ball State and Chandler White to Toledo.

Oh, just remembered Jordan Geist was also on that State Championship Homestead team, he want off to JUCO and is now going to be playing for Mizzou.

I am not privy to inside information.  Cummings not being on the roster for his senior season is a complete shock to me.  I know that he was around this summer helping with basketball camps, etc.

Four.....I mean maybe?   Webster, Rainey and Landini were regular contributors.  Wyatt-Morris got a cup of coffee in a couple games until he had to play quite a bit the last 3 games after the bottom fell out of Adrian's roster.

One of Adrian's regular players from last year, Isiah Crofford had enrolled at Marygrove before they closed up shop.  Tough luck.

My guess is this is probably an equally or better talented team to last year, and for Adrian's sake hopefully a more disciplined one.  Stuff that was allowed to slide in previous years is not anymore.

Might be a record number of Freshmen in the MIAA this year.
