Here are last night's box scores in case you don't want to go clicking around each site. I don't think MIAA dot org has links.

Combined 4 points from the Tonies starting at the 1 and 2 for calvin. Seems like the this years version is very similar to last years model?

I know it's a sacrilege to think such things, but if you took Hope's guards and put them with calvin's bigs, you'd have a real championship contender.

If there was ever a day to entertain such talk, Reformation Day probably would be it.

Really small sample size to be making those kinds of comparisons, but since we're down that road...

I'll take Hope's bigs over Calvin's based on last night (consider Teddy Ray didn't start due to a minor injury).. Ray, Towns, and McGivney went for 26pts, 17reb versus Calvin's starting trio of Bykerk, Wilks, and DeVries who had 25pts and 12reb.

Has Mr. Beckman continued his colorful display of fancy footwear with his new team?

I'd like to know as well. At Alma he did always have the best sock game in the league. I'd be sort of disappointed if he didn't don jack-o-lantern socks or something last night.

Are wings typically included when referring to "bigs"... I never really considered them as such.

I think expectations for the season are probably higher for Wilks and Bykerk than Towns and McGivney. However, I do think Towns is easily the most athletic of the bunch with the highest ceiling, so I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

This news puts me into such a foul mood, I'm compelled to share it. The news relates to the NCAA's recent disgraceful decision to ignore flagrant violations by the University of North Carolina:

https://www.jamesgmartin.center/2017/10/ncaas-unc-decision-nothing-see-move-along/

In case you're not inclined to read the entire article, let me offer a summary done by George Leef:

The NCAA has announced that it won't take any action against the University of North Carolina for its decades-long scandal of fake courses for star athletes. How did the university manage to escape getting even a slap on the wrist? As Shannon Watkins explains in a new Martin Center essay, the NCAA chose to take a pass because it wasn't only athletes who benefited from this. What a loophole for all other schools driven to win at any cost — make sure that news about bogus courses leaks out so any student can get the "benefit" of an easy A!

Watkins concludes, "If the NCAA and the accrediting agencies continue to help sweep the corruption of their constituent institutions under the rug, then what is their purpose for existing?" Good question.

Apparently UNC is too big to fail. What a joke the NCAA is.

At least, the players are too big to fail. Or even get a C.

Hope's the only MIAA to garner any votes, and they probably shouldn't have.  I'm not sure any MIAA is deserving of a vote, except maybe one but they haven't proven anything yet.

Despite not having a  legit top 25 team right now I expect this to be a very competitive and interesting season with as many as 6 schools really battling it out for a playoff spot, and probably 3 maybe 4 having a realistic shot at winning the league outright.

Is this a team that hasn't released their roster yet or a team that has?

No Trevor Manuel? That didn't take long.

According to verbalcommits.com, Manuel's status is undecided. His previous college is listed as Olivet:

If that roster is correct they have four players from the year before, talk about turnover :o
