Traitor! A modern day Benedict Arnold!

In all honesty, Congrats to both Carson and Calvin College.
Well said, Dutchfan. A great pickup for Calvin (and a disappointment for Hope) that, combined with the return of Tony DeWitte should have OldKnight et al. smiling as they contemplate the next several years. Nevertheless, on balance Hope (like Olivet?) seems to have had a great last two recruiting years, so their fans also have much to look forward to.

I have been watching this web site daily to see who would end up with Carson since I feel he will have quite an impact.  Could others from Covenant Christian at Calvin been a major factor in his decision?  Anyway, that is great news!

Jake Daniels  6-0 G  Holly is transferring from Saginaw Valley State (D2) to Trine

Jake played in 28 games last year, putting in about 13 mins per game.  Those minutes diminished as the year went on.  Class A All-State, Oakland County player of the year out of high school.

Interesting as Saginaw Valley's going to be losing their two best guards and the two that played ahead of him.  Mike Wells (5-8) to graduation and Malik Garner (5-11) is transferring as well.  Figure Daniels would seen an extended role next year.

Bummer for Hope and a great ad for the knights. Curious basketball decision for Carson... I feel like there is now slew of similar talent in calvin's front court with Bykerk, Morrison, DeVries, Walter, and Meuhlenberg. Not a bad problem to have, by any stretch for calvin!
Let's go Dutchmen!

...shot nearly 50% from 3 with 111 attempts this past Winter.

Considering how slow of a recruiting year it appears Calvin is having, they really needed a pick up like Carson Meulenberg.

Dutch Calvinist Reformer

Calvin won out in the recruiting race for Jack Cahalane, and excellent point guard.

Is the year really slow for Calvin or did we simply get an unusual amount of early news from a few other teams? Do we typically know much about recruiting in early to mid April?

Deposit day is this weekend or next week for most MIAA schools.  We have about 25 names posted to this board right now.

Last year on 4-27 we had 34 confirmed and posted MIAA recruits (4 for Calvin), 34 around the same time the year before.

Recruiting and announcements is a fairly random thing.

Here is an updated list of recruits. Names added since I last posted the list are in bold.

I have to say that I have been impressed with Trine's recruiting in the state of Michigan. A bit dismayed to see some of these quality recruits going south, but impressed nonetheless.

TUAngola

Trine's biggest need for next season is guard depth due to the early and midseason defections of guards off of the team last year.  Other than a wing or 2 most of the listed recruits for Trine are guards.  I would love to see a big or 2 in this class though, heck the Trine womens program have recruited gals with more length then the men  ::).  I doubt that Trine is done recruiting, Coach Miller is good at pulling in an Ohio kid or 2 and I've yet to been able to find any Ohio HS boys scouting twitter sites that have small school recruiting updates.  We also tend to get 1 or 2 transfers in each class, Saginaw Valley's Jake Daniels being one of them so far.

Prep Hoops Ohio on Twitter does a really great job summing up each days commitments...they cover D3 really well.
