Already mentioned previously for the Olivet job.  Probably can't do both...  ;D

Will be interesting if there is any overlap in candidates. Particularly if it ends up leading to another vacancy in the league.

I like this idea.  When they play each other each team gets him for a half.   ;D

If I recall, Avery was a big "my job is to get them ready" coach, and was never all that adept at in-game adjustments anyway.  I'm sure assistant coaches can handle timeouts and substitutions just fine.

I thought it would be deeper into the offseason before we got into hypotheticals like Avery Johnson coaching both sides of an MIAA game.

If you need a d3 hoops fix, you can always head over to DeVos tonight for the Addix All-Star games.  Should be fun seeing Hope's Ray & Towns, Calvin's Bykerk & Walters, Trine's Smith, and Olivet's Edmonds all on the same team.

Well the MIAA has been unpredictable lately, so the message boards should be too.

So is it Albion's league to lose next year? Calvin returns their top 3, Trine loses Copeland and Smith and Hope loses three starters including Beckman.

I think so. My personal current preseason rankings...

1. Albion - Ebeling and Davis Jr. will be fun to watch. An off-season for Barnes and Winston... and I think this team could be better than last year from the get go.

2a. Calvin - I think losing Carlos, Austin, and Jason will hurt more than it might appear. That's a lot of size inside and a very capable point guard. I'm not sure the transition to Thad, Tony, and Carson will be as smooth as the knight faithful would like. Not to mention, who will the head coach be? Still, Ebeling and DeVries have to be the pre-season favorites for MVP next season.

2b. Hope - There will be serious growing pains losing Jason, Dennis, and Teddy. But believe it or not, I think the loss of Teddy will hurt the most. He was by far the best defender on a team that didn't defend very well. Preston and Riley are solid core to build around, and I think Clayton Dykehouse had the potential to earn a starting position next season. If he doesn't, I'm really worried Hope's guards will be too small and slow on the defensive end.

4. I don't know. Kalamazoo maybe. They do return everyone.

5-7. Take your pick... Adrian, Alma, Trine. I respect what Coach Miller has been able to do at Trine that I'll give him the 5 and the benefit of the doubt, despite losing almost everyone. You can flip a coin for me between the other two.

8. Olivet. They return a measly 26% of their total minutes from last season (assuming Manuel is gone)... and this includes garbage time and times when Ernst pulled the entire starting lineup to prove a point. Oh, and speaking of Ernst, he's gone too. Is it too early to make Olivet my pick in next year's winless predictions?

Agree with your rankings for the most part. If Hope lands their top remaining recruits, they probably will have 2-3 freshman that push for heavy minutes. They also could have an impact transfer but I'd label that as more wishful thinking at this moment.  Honestly I think Kzoo has a ton of potential to battle Hope for that "2b" position, I really hope Jay Smith is healthy enough to coach because he has them believing.
I see Hope either battling for 1-3 in the conference if the freshman deliver or 4-5 if the growing pains turn into a "rebuild". I don't see Adrian Alma or Olivet being threats.
