So is it Albion's league to lose next year? Calvin returns their top 3, Trine loses Copeland and Smith and Hope loses three starters including Beckman.

I think so. My personal current preseason rankings...

1. Albion - Ebeling and Davis Jr. will be fun to watch. An off-season for Barnes and Winston... and I think this team could be better than last year from the get go.

2a. Calvin - I think losing Carlos, Austin, and Jason will hurt more than it might appear. That's a lot of size inside and a very capable point guard. I'm not sure the transition to Thad, Tony, and Carson will be as smooth as the knight faithful would like. Not to mention, who will the head coach be? Still, Ebeling and DeVries have to be the pre-season favorites for MVP next season.

2b. Hope - There will be serious growing pains losing Jason, Dennis, and Teddy. But believe it or not, I think the loss of Teddy will hurt the most. He was by far the best defender on a team that didn't defend very well. Preston and Riley are solid core to build around, and I think Clayton Dykehouse had the potential to earn a starting position next season. If he doesn't, I'm really worried Hope's guards will be too small and slow on the defensive end.

4. I don't know. Kalamazoo maybe. They do return everyone.

5-7. Take your pick... Adrian, Alma, Trine. I respect what Coach Miller has been able to do at Trine that I'll give him the 5 and the benefit of the doubt, despite losing almost everyone. You can flip a coin for me between the other two.

8. Olivet. They return a measly 26% of their total minutes from last season (assuming Manuel is gone)... and this includes garbage time and times when Ernst pulled the entire starting lineup to prove a point. Oh, and speaking of Ernst, he's gone too. Is it too early to make Olivet my pick in next year's winless predictions?

Good work +1

Is Manuel expected to leave?

Yes he is. And I doubt he'd be eligible if he didn't. I work in the main academic building and I've only seen him at Cutler.

I doubt they return 26% of the minutes. I know of at least one of the players is planning on transferring.

I'm a little jealous the Kentucky High School basketball regular season is 30 games.

Just saw on Twitter that Steve Bell (West MI basketball camp/AAU director) tweeted — "Sam Hargraves to Olivet." Not sure who Steve's sources are, but could be big news...

From what I was hearing, Sam was one of the "surprising/head scratching" candidates that were teased on this board.

Same. Feels to me like he must:

1) not be happy at Alma
2) believe he can pull better recruits to Olivet than Alma
3) not want/believe he can get the Calvin job

Right?

Hargraves to Olivet is double confirmed. Alma's website confirms it with a press release and I've heard it from people on campus
