Some great news for Trine MBB.

Grad Student and starting PG Marcus Winters is coming back for his last year of Basketball eligibility at Trine.  Many weren't sure, including myself, whether he would play for Trine this season.  He is pursuing a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership.  This fall semester he is a Grad Assistant Coach for the Thunder football team where he was a 3rd team All American at Cornerback as a Senior last year.

Marcus is such a quality kid, has a high motor on the court, is one of the best defensive players in the league and IMHO the best rebounding guard in the league.  My excitement level for this team next season has just went up a smidge.

For those wondering where a recruit has gone ... who indicated he was going to Calvin but seems to have shown up at Olivet ...

I have a solid source who has informed me that he is indeed at Olivet. I can't say more than that, but I assure you ... he is at Olivet.

Hope will host an exhibition vs D2 Grand Valley State on Tuesday October 29.

That is the same night Albion plays at Michigan State.

Looks like Calvin vs. Olivet games are going to get a whole lot spicier for the next four years.

Hey, can't turn down a full scholarship and a bag full of money.

So, where is the player in question attending?  Was he trolling Calvin?

As a Big Hope and MIAA fan in the 80's, I was thrilled to see that both Hope and Calvin are playing in Florida pre-Christmas tourneys, very close to my retirement condo..
Hope is playing over in Orlando, a quick trip from the Gulf Coast for me... don't think I' ll bother seeing them playing woeful Finlandia, winless in 2018-19, but looking forward to them playing Carlton (7-18 last year), who should provide some decent competition... a shame a little better comp wasn't drawn into the tourney...

Calvin plays in the St.Pete Beach tourney, likely at Eckerd College, like 5 minutes from where I live...they open with a strong Emory and Henry team, 17-10 last year... I haven't figured out who are the other teams in the tourney yet.... and YES.. I'll root for Calvin!!!!

A little taste of D3hoops that I miss so much, here in the D3 wasteland of Florida...
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Last I had heard Calvin and Emory & Henry will be joined by Skidmore but there was not a fourth team under contract for the event. Maybe that has changed in the last couple months but if not I was told the event would be staged as a three-team round robin.

Any proof?

Classes in session (or soon to be for most schools) and yet no word on the open coaching spot at Kalamazoo.  Interestingly enough, they do already have their 19-20 roster posted (very early as they always do).

Interesting to see Connor Kok's name missing from the Hornets' roster. :-X

I thought Kok enrolling at Calvin was already established.

1. Might any of the listed freshmen "jump ship" considering that the coach they thought they would be playing for suddenly did a vanishing act.

2. What about prospects for the assistant coach being elevated to the head spot?

3. Why is it necessary to list the AAU team that the roster members played for? Is this common with MIAA teams? Do area AAU coaches have much influence on what colleges their players end up at?

* I'm asking for a couple reasons. First, I just don't know that much about the MIAA and how the teams operate in general so I'm looking for a little education from the knowledgeable MIAA fans/posters. Second, let's just say in the Chicagoland area a good percentage of people involved with college D3 level basketball often find it difficult to say many favorable things about many AAU coaches. Thanks.
