UChicago won the first half by 4, Hope won the second half by 9.

Hope's bigs were really impressive - especially Sam Vree. Looks much quicker and blocked some shots.
Hope stuck with that same starting 5 of Hackert, Lewis, George, Granger and Gamm, but the freshmen Thomas and Dykehouse got a lot of playing time too. Looked like a 3 man rotation at the 4 and 5 with Granger, Vree, and Gamm - with sophomore Jeff Bikus in some as well.

Ty George led Hope with 15 points on 5 threes, Dykehouse had 14 and handled the ball really well - wouldn't be surprised if he found his way into the starting rotation at some point.

Overall, Hope's offensive movement looked pretty good - excited to see what happens with this team.

Hope's exhibition with GVSU will tell us more on Tuesday!

Does the site have a responsibility to be fair to MaroonKnighty?
Of course it does.

Kzoo and Davenport had something scheduled tonight but nothing appears on either schools websites.  Maybe just a scrimmage?

Kzoo did, in fact, scrimmage Davenport last night, and apparently played well and kept it close until K pulled the starters with a few minutes to go.

I have a few guesses but I don't want to "speculate" because that just wouldn't be "fair."

As long as the guesses are not posters.  No poster here has the ability to delete another's posts.

Are you suggesting it was Pat?

Yes.  I think sometime between his day job and taping the last D3football.com podcast, he came here and deleted a bunch of posts.

MaroonKnighty

He wasn't one of my guesses.  That also doesn't seem very productive.

I get it, life isn't fair, Bernie has been telling us this for a while now.  I do think I deserve to know who deleted my posts and why they did it.  They don't have to do it here, they can send me a private message.  This is the second time this has happened this year and I'm not sure why.

Mr. Ypsi

I know that years ago, Pat had to do 'housecleaning' from time to time because of limited server capacity. (IIRC, I passed 10,000 posts four times before finally passing it for good!)  I don't know if that is still an issue (to keep up speed, etc.), but he used to clear out out-dated 'pickems' files, etc.

It certainly does look odd that both your positive and negative karma are more than double your number of posts! :o  If I didn't know about your deleted posts, I'd think you were the most controversial poster in history! ;D

I wonder if Hope can survive with this 3 guard lineup against many teams.  I'm guessing we won't see Tyler George guarding Derrick DeVries later this year... (Not that Hope has many that can)

Who is aloud to delete posts?
This reminds me of a friend who spoke (loudly, I suppose) of being of "Dutch dissent."
I could have argued the point, but why?

Wise choice to not begin your decent into dissent on his decent

Decent choice, at least.

Next games Tuesday.

If by chance anyone reading this board is thinking of hitting East Lansing Tuesday night

Albion/MSU tickets are available but.......MSU isn't selling lower bowl seats on their website, you can find many available on Stubhub but price hasn't budged much from 40 to as much 180 each.  Maybe check Tuesday morning when sellers will take anything?  Hype is huge for the Spartans this year, so maybe not.

There are student tickets for sale but be aware you need a valid MSU ID to use them and they're pretty serious about that at most games, this one, no idea.   MSU is selling tickets in the upper level on their website for $17 but they can be found on Stubhub for as little as $6.  Originally I thought these were general admission but looks like there is only a few sections open and only the "bench" seats in the last few rows.

Also parking is another few bucks across the road in the ramp.  Other lots here and there but anything close goes to season ticket holders.

FYI, traffic is stupid on 127 and 496 at rush hour for a city Lansing's size.

If you don't feel like doing any of this the game is supposed to be broadcast on BTN plus.

Hope/GVSU:
Tickets will be available.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw the ticket situation for Albion/MSU. I wanted to wear a red OC basketball shirt and enthusiastically cheer for MSU for the whole game (I still haven't forgotten this years MIAA semis). Doing that in the upper bowl is not quite what I had in mind.

Seriously though, I wanted to go to this game as it is a great opportunity to showcase the MIAA to a wider audience and I think it's a cool opportunity for the Winston family. Between the less than desirable seats and Comet Madness being that night at 9, I think I'll try to watch it on BTN instead.

Quick check this morning and there are now a couple dozen for under $30 in the lower bowl, so they are coming down.

Thanks for all of the info.  I bought my ticket just after midnight when they went on sale.  I didn't know exactly what I was getting, but I was excited and just wanted to make sure I had my ticket right away.

If ticket prices continue to drop on Stubhub, and I decide I'd like a better seat, does anyone have recommendations?  I don't follow D1 basketball, so I'm not familiar with Breslin.  Is there a section where visitors tend to sit?  I think I read that Albion's bench will be in front of section 111?  Will it even make a difference to try to get a lower bowl ticket?  I've been to Crisler often (though mostly for non-basketball, lower bowl-only events), if that comparison would help at all.

Breslin is much better in the lower bowl as all arenas, meaning all the green seats above the student section.  Student sections are optimal but a) students b) only big donors get the non-student seats across the benches.   Upper bowl you sometimes have to look through plexi glass in lower rows and higher up the sideline is sometimes not visible.  Traffic in some aisles can obstruct view as well and you're just generally further away from the action of course.  Last few rows are aluminum bench seats.

I try to avoid seats directly behind the basket in the lower bowl (green seats) because both the shot clock and basket can obstruct the view of play.  Otherwise pretty much anywhere in the lower bowl is a good seat.  I prefer the corners or directly across from benches (also closer to the parking exits).

Big Ten schools barely give out any visiting tickets, Albion will be lucky to have received more than 50 and they'll be directly behind their bench in Section 111.

First time MSU's played a D3 since their MIAA days I think so this is all new territory, really no idea what the crowd will be like.  I only have Hope-Indiana to go by and attendance that day was about 9,000 in a similar size arena.  But Indiana wasn't pre-season #1.

Sac inspired me to do a bit of Albion/MSU research.

The teams first played in February of 1906 at Albion in the College gymnasium on campus. Fun fact, that building burnt down in January of 1922, it was replaced in 1925 by Kresge, the current home of the Britons.

MSU holds a 10-1 advantage in the series. The only Albion win came in January of 1927 in a 37-31 win at College gymnasium, at MSU (I guess that was the only name used for gyms in mid Michigan). College Gymnasium (MSU's) was the facility that preceded Demonstration Hall, which preceded Jenison Field house, which the Breslin Center replaced in 1989.

In January of 1945, as the Battle of the Bulge raged in the Ardennes during WWII, the teams played for the final time. They scheduled a home and home series. January 8th MSU won 72-36 at Kresge, and on the 22nd MSU won 58-38 at Jenison Field House.

I'd be remiss if I didn't included some history of my own Comets. They have a 4-7 record against MSU, but have the proud distinction of being the first MSU opponent, handing them 4 straight losses to start the program, and the distinction of being the first team MSU beat at home, after their first two wins came on the road.

I hate to say it, but so far Hope's lineup looks the most impressive.  With experienced big men that no other team can match and some great shooting guards, they will be really tough to handle.  Has Olivet posted its roster yet?
