KS - I had the same thought - typically see CC schools playing the JV teams from the MIAA.

Question - anyone know when the MIAA coaches poll is coming out?  There used to be a publicly visible calendar on the MIAA site that included these things, but I can't seem to find it any longer (maybe just my old man eyesight - or it's been gone a long time and ICRS).

With the regular season starting this weekend you'd think it would be sooner than later.

It appears Grace might(?) have video of tonight's game with Alma.

It's an exhibition for Alma but I believe a real game for the Christian Tigers.

It appears that Olivet lost their exhibition game against St. Clair CC last night, 68-66. No stats as per the new usual.
I'm not familiar with the CC scene, but this is probably a disappointing result for the Comets.

St. Clair was actually pretty good last year, finished 3rd in their division of the MCCAA and ended up winning the tournament beating both Henry Ford and Mott and playing in the national tournament.  They've started off 2020 ranked in the top 20 of the NJCAA.

Its still all Fr. and Soph. players at CC's but I don't think St. Clair is your average CC.

Decent start to the season for Hope.

I thought they lost their composure at the end of the first half. Rushed shots and poor rotation on defense. Need to become a better rebounding team. A team where you really miss a TJ VK

Very impressed with the youngsta's  ;D George, Thomas, and Dykhouse seem like a solid core for the future. Granger was his typical self. Riley Lewis' size hurt him again with trying to find shots but expect him to be a threat all year. Gamm was very solid, but probably need some more height and length at the five spot. I expect Vree to get a lot of time (I think he is hurt?).

Hope is probably a year away from being really good. It was nice to finally see some height on the wing with Thomas.

Halftime in Chicago:  Illinois Tech 40 Trine 38

Trine starting 5: Seniors Maurice Hunter, Langston Johnson, Marcus Winters, Junior newcomer Jake Daniels, and Soph newcomer Mitch Geller.  Illinois Tech frontline goes 6'8, 6'8, 6'6.  We are getting beat down low with Hisatake and Dugalic getting easy looks inside.  Illinois Tech also has a guard from Italy that can really play, shooting very well.  Daniels with some 3's early to keep us in the game after Tech went up 10, Johnson with some runners late to keep it close.  Freshman Brent Cox has played well off the bench.  The alarming news though is Maurice Hunter injured an elbow diving for a loose ball about 2 minutes into the game.  No word on his return but you could see him walking to the locker room with his arm in a sling.  Hope it's not serious as we don't have much depth upfront after Geller and Cox.

Final from Chicago:  Trine 75 Illinois Tech 71

Nice win on the road for the short handed Thunder.  Second half was nip and tuck all the way, I don't think either team led by more than 4.  Don't have final stats but pretty sure Johnson led the way.  Freshman Cox was solid in his debut, he'll be a good one.  Daniels with a big 3 towards the end that put Trine up by 2.  Tech took 3 timeouts trying to set up a final play for the tie or win, but Trine defended very well creating a turnover.  Hisatake for Tech is a really good athletic big man and basically owned the paint.  Trine played 1 big and 4 guards most of the game with Hunter being injured. Winters, who is 6'0, guarded Dugalic who is 6'8, a lot of the second half and held his own.

GVSU game revealed a few Hope players really worked hard over the summer, Ripon game confirmed it.  George and Gamm have both come back obviously better and I think Granger has added some agility as well.

I watched a lot of Evan Thomas last year so his performance was not very unusual to my eyes I just didn't expect it so soon.  He's just a solid player.   Dykhouse also had some impressive moments his quickness is going to be a very nice option.

Hope has some interesting options at guard.  Control game with Hackert, Lewis.  Quickness with Dykhouse, Wilkens  Length with Davis, Dietz   Dirty Work with Honor.   Lots to work out, the versatility and guard pairings is something to keep an eye on.

Ripon's a pretty good offensive team and Hope did manage to hold them slightly under last years efficiency.  But defense will continue to be a challenge as will rebounding.

Ripon 90 Kzoo 88,   Ripon won on Saturday at Kzoo, biggest difference from Friday to Saturday was the Red Hawks shot the three ball much better against Kzoo.

Wed's game with Benedictine will bring at least a similar but probably better opponent to Holland.  The Eagles opened with an impressive 87-79 win over perennial MWC champion St. Norbert  (same conference as Ripon).

Devastating news that just leaves me speechless and driven to my knees in prayer for the Winston family, the Albion family, and everyone who knew Zach.
