Does internet video count as available video review?

If it is available at the table, technically it could be reviewed.

I had no idea that D3 had a review option.

Was actually used during the first Hope Calvin game this year.  They used it when one official made a call and was also injured at the same time, and the other officials needed to verify who the foul was on, as well as verify if the injury was caused by a fan.    Of course that one is actually a TV broadcast - but I think the key to being able to use it is for replay to be available to the officials at the scorers table (or thereabout).

FYI for all, I'd have to ask Albion but I think its available upstairs in the secondary press area, whether that qualifies as "at the table" I have no idea.  Its a rather unique setup at Kresge.  Probably no room at the floor table.

I wonder if the scorer was confusing George's shot with the Granger long 2 that was initially put up as 3 pts, then corrected to 2pts (at least I assume that happened on the actual scoreboard since it happened on the video feed score and the commentators mentioned it was wrong as 3pts several times before it was corrected).

It appears I inadvertently found a 2nd scoring error.

Just to be clear I'm like 4th party to this, and it was explained to me without inquiry in a rather casual conversation about what happened. But "George's shot" was mentioned to me, so I looked for George's shot.  The big discussion after halftime apparently was about Granger's shot at 4:12, clearly a 2, but was put on the board as a 3.  That was corrected.

However, George's 3 a couple minutes later was missed(?), I don't know.   That would fall on Hope's shoulders for not noticing the error.   I don't know the minutia of NCAA rules anymore but pretty sure scoring errors can't be corrected once the officials have left the court.

Errors happen, fun to dissect.  Better than dissecting completely unnecessary technical fouls and poking balls away from opponents sitting on a technical foul. :-X

It must be at the table. It can't be "somewhere else." (My quotes)

Jameswys - the video review rules are available for all levels. In my video streaming/production consulting/directing roles through the last decade, I have gotten several schools in DIII up and running with video review. Each have different ways to utilize the options. I encourage it where ever I can. It might not be perfect and it may not always work well, but it is helpful when needed.

A DIII conference recently banned review for their conference tournament. I thought it was one of the most short-sighted decision I had heard (there are others). There are schools that have it and it should be used if necessary. Yes, there are others who don't. However, by banning it's use because there are some who don't have it not only eliminates the opportunity for it to be used and mistakes to be corrected ... but it provides absolutely no impetus for those without the technology to add it. It plays to the "lesser" group and that usually means slowing down advancements.

Interestingly, that same conference had it's coaches group (at least the women) vote in the off-season to ban video review during the regular season as well. Thankfully, the ADs overruled the coaches to allow review for at least the regular season. I need to see if the tournament ban remains.

Wow!  What a game at DeVos today.  It doesn't get much better than Calvin giving hope a beat down.  What a beautiful day for a butt kicking.  Great job by the Knight's seniors today.

Was a great second half.  (Get ready for the negative karma attack for your glee.  😁)

School was in session and MVP DeVries provided some good lessons.  Such a pleasure to watch.

Derrick DeVries was unstoppable. Tony DeWitte had a great game.  Jordan Katje, off the bench, gave Calvin 19 minutes of hustle, defense, and  rebounding.  Calvin's play in the second half took everything away from Hope.  Hope looked lost.  The margin of the win was surprising because I thought Hope played pretty well the first half.  Calvin did a great job defending Granger.  He ended with 17 points.  6 of those points  were late when the game was already decided.  He seemed energized to fill the stat sheet late in the game. He also committed 7 turnovers today.  This win should put Calvin in the driver's seat for third place in the league.

No negative karma for MaroonKnighty . . . Calvin earned him the right to gloat, by replicating its 2nd half dominance earlier at Knollcrest.

Did I fail to appreciate Derrick DeVries his first two years, or has he really developed his game over time? Hope tried four different defenders on him, all without success. Calvin's simple play--give him the ball at the top of the key and clear the lane for him to drive--worked time and again, yielding either his layups or (when doubled) his pass-outs to open 3-point shooters. That's a play that I expect to see more often from Hope's Evan Thomas over the next three years.

Calvin 84  Hope 59  F

True Hope played pretty well the first 15 minutes of the 1st half, but Hope was already sliding backwards by 5 min to go and really struggled to close out the half, Calvin failed to take advantage of that stretch and held a pretty misleading 5 point edge at halftime.

Second half the roof caved in on Hope and they played even worse than they did at Olivet last Saturday.  They played great Wednesday which makes some of what happened today a little perplexing. One step forward, two steps back.

Calvin and the fighting DeVries'  ;) ;) were great today and I mean that.  Derrick was virtually unstoppable with Warners and DeWitte adding an offensive punch that's been hot and cold.  Hot today.

Hope:  Granger 17, Thomas 13
Calvin:  DeVries 35, DeWitte 16

Alma 78  Albion 74
Adrian 69  Trine 62
Kzoo 96  Olivet 80

+1 for road win/ -1 for home loss

1.  Albion 9-1  +4
2.  Trine 8-3 +2
3.  Calvin 6-4  +1
4.  Alma 5-5   +1
4.  Adrian 5-5  E
6.  Hope 4-6  -2

7.  Olivet 2-8  -3
8.  Kalamazoo 2-8  -3

Great win for Alma at Albion, Trine fails to close the gap, golden opportunity lost.

Good matchup Wed night, a chance for Calvin to pull even with Trine.  Knights could end up in the #2 spot.  Calvin win/Albion win would clinch at least a share of the title for Albion.

That loss at Olivet for Hope keeps things interesting at the bottom, but Kzoo and Olivet have games remaining where its hard to see them getting two wins let alone 3 or 4.   Hope could help themselves winning Wed night and or Sat.  Needing a win the following week might not be so great.  Hope might stumble over the MIAA tournament qualification line with a 5 game losing streak.

February basketball is always fun and unpredictable.

Being foremost a CCIW guy (despite living in Michigan for closing in on 50 years), I can't recall - does the MIAA tourney have 4 teams or 6? (or all 8?)
