Adrian is probably going to have to stay east due to second weekend considerations.  I think sending them to Brockport would be cool, but that might be too far east for the second weekend.  I'm thinking it's likely Mt. Union.  Not sure yet whether Witt will host or not.

Adjusted it to include the possibility Wittenberg can't host again.

Let's hope they can.  We may really need them for geography.  I was just saying, if the committee really is going to go with Top 16 (or as close as they can get), Witt isn't likely in that group.  St. John's has a similar, but better resume, although they'll probably be excluded due to geography.  Being smack dab in the middle of the d3 world really helps Witt at times like this.

It's going to be even worse this year with second weekend considerations factored in.  I've already got a headache and I've hardly even started.

After looking it over a bit, if you seed 4 team pods as #1, #2, #3, #4 I'm confident Adrian is going to be a #4.  That means playing the host school.  If they end up in a 3 v 2 game, they've unbalanced the seeds due to geography.

As stated before for likely hosts

Mt. Union  -lock
Platteville  -lock
Wooster or Wittenberg
Elmhurst or North Central
Washington-St. Louis
Brockport
------
St. John's or St. Thomas ---requires flight
Neb. Wesleyan ---requires flight

By seed it should probably be Adrian at Mt. Union

Just for fun in most likely order
Mt. Union
Platteville
WashU
Wooster/Witt
Elmhurst/North Central
Brockport

No chance they fly Adrian out to Nebraska Wesleyan or St. John's/St. Thomas

Calvin got sent to Oswego a few years back and that's an even further East-West split than Adrian to Brockport.

That game was at Mt. Union.

Huh. So it was. No idea how I misremembered that one so badly!

Top seeds fall.  Congrats to Adrian and Trine.  Tournaments matter!

Congrats to Adrian! With Kalonji and Harris, this team is dangerous and fun to watch. I hope they can keep it up in the NCAA tournament.

One thing I hadn't fully considered last week with the AQ talk was the amount of times the MIAA gets 2 teams in when they would have only gotten 1 with the AQ going to someone other than the regular season champion.

I'd love to see Albion in, but that looks bleak right now. I would be interested the amount of times that the result of the MIAA tournament increased the number of MIAA teams in the NCAA vs. the amount of times the results left the outright regular-season winners home...

Hope is the only MIAA to receive a Pool C bid since 2009.  They've done so 3 times  2014, 2016, 2017.

Going into selection weekend, Calvin 22-5 and Alma 21-6 might have had a shot at a Pool C in 2014 and 2016 but I can't recall.  Calvin at 17-10 in 2017 was a definite no.

It's crazy how tight things can be sometimes.  If Albion had beaten UMU way back when they would've moved from "no chance" to "pretty good chance" in the Pool C selections.

At least they lost to MU and Marietta by 19 and 26. It would be a tougher pill to swallow if they lost one of those on the last play of the game.

What is a tough pill to swallow is that their SOS is what's going to keep them out. And it's not like they tried to schedule a cupcake non conference. They just couldn't get any help from another MIAA team. Had Calvin pulled out wins in those close games against Augustana and Trine, they may have popped into the regional rankings and given Albion 2 wins against RRO.

Probably more difficult to swallow is that they were clearly the best team in the conference all season and missed the AQ.

That was less clear the last 3 weeks.   Calvin, Adrian, Trine and even Alma had been closing that gap in play rapidly.
