I wonder if that wraps up the Class of 2020 recruiting?
Any more prospects still being pursued?

Not sure about that.  Bill Sall tweeted this last night:

"Great news tonight!  Another tremendous addition to the Calvin Basketball family"

Could be a new recruit - this year or beyond - and I suppose it could be about something else like a new child born to someone connected to the program.

Knowing Bill Sall as I do, it could be all three of those possibilities.
But I suspect this is the one to which he was referring:

Uchenna Egekeze, 6-3, 190-lb, shooting guard from Huntley, IL, High School and an AAU teammate of prized recruit Luke Sheffers, will attend Calvin University.

At the very least, he'll be a tough matchup for PA announcers throughout the MIAA.

I've been trying to twitter-slueth this one going back to when Luke Scheffers committed and am glad to find my Beautiful Mind connection board in my shed did not let me down. He was a high school teammate of Ryan Sroka, who is headed to Illinois Wesleyan. Not sure if they were involved in his recruitment but maybe TitanQ can add some flavor to the discussion when he comes lurking around here. Apparently Egekeze held at least one D2 offer.

ziggy, I'm not sure if Illinois Wesleyan was in on Uchenna Egekeze, but I'm aware he did draw D2 interest and broader interest from some solid D3 programs in Wisconsin and Illinois. In the end, as I understand it, he was choosing between Calvin and Wheaton. He and his parents and older brother (who played at Belmont U in Nashville and is playing professionally overseas) drove to Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago to meet with Bill Sall and get a first-hand look at the Calvin campus and the Van Noord Arena. That trip, and a followup zoom conference with current Calvin players and recruits, convinced him to join his buddy Luke Scheffers and choose Calvin.

Kzoo apparently has had a third recruit for a while: Sam Coleman out of La Jolla Country Day in San Diego, CA. MaxPreps says he's 6'3".

Wheaton was all over Egekeze...I think fair to say one of their biggest priority recruits.

IWU was not on Egekeze, but interestingly one of IWU's top recruits is his teammate, Ryan Sroka.

Both are high-level D3 recruits.

I believe he was Wheaton, Calvin, or prep school.

Who are the top-2 or 3 of the group? Which school has the best recruiting class?

I'm not qualified to answer this question directly but it sure seems like Bill Sall is coming up with some impressive recruiting wins in his first full recruiting cycle as head coach at Calvin. One of the many things I liked about his hire was how used to recruiting he is from all his years coaching at the D2 level. I'm sure it's much different not having a scholarship to dangle at a recruit but surely is a lot of the recruiting experience he gained at Ferris and Northern that are transferable.

Does Calvin have the best recruiting class? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm very encouraged overall.

sac

If the question is who helped themselves the most for immediate needs, its probably Calvin by quite a bit.  Paul and Scheffers are likely first day starters.  If Sall extends his bench a little more, he's probably got a couple other Fr. who may contribute some.

But I think Albion, Alma, Hope, Olivet and Trine have all added a player or two that down the road may become all-miaa first team quality.

All I know is, I don't think MIAA recruiting has ever been this competitive among the 8 schools.

Scheffers, Paul and Griffth (hope)   probably, maybe?   Demetrius Lake if he does indeed play for Olivet next Winter is surely top 3 impact.

I agree with pretty much everything sac posted.

I will make one gentle reminder (perhaps equally to myself as everyone else)...

No matter how much Scheffers, Paul, Griffith, or any other incoming player contributes right away this season... very little has changed in how the season should play out. Even if Scheffers and Paul are both starters from day one, even the slappiest of knight fans doesn't expect them to be Davis and Ebeling, especially THIS season. So as excited as I am to see Griffith and how much different Hope's offense looks with him and with Thomas and Dykhouse getting a full off-season to improve their games... Or how exciting it is for calvin to have gotten some bonified D1/D2 caliber recruits...

Albion is still the team to beat and without a huge step in the right direction by another team, should run away with this conference. That's assuming a season happens. I think Team COVID might be the current most likely team to steal this season's banner from the Brits.
Let's go Dutchmen!

I have heard Demetrius Lake will not play at Olivet next year.
