As I understand the Calvin situation, swimming and some other teams apparently have positive cases or close contact on them. I do not believe basketball has either, but I don't really know for sure. Apparently Albion's president wasn't interested in having his teams playing Calvin with the current situation on their campus - despite what might have been promises from Calvin to test often especially on game-day. The details could be a bit squirrely.

Athletics at Calvin are apparently allowed on a team-by-team basis. I find that a bit surprising considering the stay-at-home order and even classes meeting in person being up to the professor. I also know of other schools that have put the entire athletics department on a pause in what seems like similar circumstances.

I am curious, what is interesting about the intersection?

I think he's describing this intersection
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Albion,+MI+49224/@42.2507783,-84.7533326,146m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x883d451b39295621:0xdfbec60a4a2a6007!8m2!3d42.243097!4d-84.7530304

Traffic on Superior has right of way to turn left onto Austin.  Traffic on Austin has to stop to turn left onto Superior, but has free flow right onto Superior.  It seems pretty benign to get a mention.  Albion's bricked, re-bricked and then re-bricked again downtown main street(Superior) is much more article worthy.  The houses on that hill up there are more noteworthy as well for their historical architecture, rebirth and in a couple cases downright neglect.

Its no where near as interesting as this one used to be

This is on the Northeast edge of Albion's campus.  Jackson street has been closed off for several years now, probably longer than I remember.  Its controlled by a light now, but way back when on trips to grandma and grandpa's in Homer I can remember there being just stop signs and looks of confusion if other cars were in the intersection.  (Also the Albion party store that sold all the kegs was right in that area, and a laundry mat)

Side note, dad used to "short cut" it down Clark Street to Erie Street and back across to Superior.  This was not a short cut at all but allowed a quick glimpse at Albion's campus.......and the co-ed's probably. ;)

I think he means the second one you linked, though it's not really three-way intersection.  Getting off I-94 at exit 124, you do pass, "past a church, a mechanic's shop, a small industrial park" and this intersection.

That said, I think of that as the "back" way, having first come to Albion from the west, via exit 121, past the fast food, grocery store, etc., and being able to see downtown as you turn to get to campus.  Agreed that the main street is superior, Superior, and more article-worthy!

Now I wonder if he meant the intersection at the old drive-in movie theater on M-99 and I94.  That one was odd before they made it a curve.

Thanks guys.  I guess they were going for a story, but most Division III campuses I have visited and the surrounding neighborhoods and downtowns could be described as picturesque among other positive adjectives.

TUAngola

Final from Angola:  Trine 88 Alma 57

Same recipe again for Trine as in previous games this year...swarming defense creating turnovers which lead to more scoring opportunites than their opponents.  Trine is good at sharing the ball and getting good looks at the basket.  Lots of points in the paint created by guys penetrating and dishing to open players on the block.

Trine:  Bowman 24, Jones 13, Williams 12, Cox 10, Geller 8, Lorimer 8
Alma:  Kleiver 13, Williamson 12, Rake 8

According to Hope Athletics the MIAA presidents on Thursday gave institutional discretion for fan attendance at men and women's basketball games effective immediately. Hope will be allowing immediate family of players and coaches to attend. Really happy for all the parents!!!

Adrian @ Kzoo was postponed as well

Adrian/Olivet and Calvin/Trine will probably be at risk for cancellation next Wed.   The 10 day window, if that's even a thing, stretches all the way to next Saturday for Adrian.  Calvin's situation is a little different, to my knowledge they have no actual positive tests in basketball, games were cancelled out of caution.  But that was as of a couple days ago.

+k to the MIAA presidents for this decision!  Thanks for sharing this.

I made a comment on here last week about allowing parents at games and it happened.  This week I would like to suggest that Calvin University live stream their games on YouTube rather than Vimeo.  YouTube is a much better viewing experience!

Alma is playing at Kalamazoo today.

They were scheduled to play next Saturday, it also looks like Adrian/Trine for next Saturday has been postponed already.

Is it time for Hope to potentially part ways with Coach Mitchell?

Because 55% from the FT line is bad coaching???  Ridiculous

Potentially, No!

Albion 81 Hope 63  F

Albion dominated early, opened the door wide open early in the 2nd half for Hope to go through which they refused and ended up coasting to the easy win.  Hope is no threat to win shooting under 30% from 3 and under 60% from the free throw line.  That is well established.

Hope:  Granger 18, Thomas 17
Albion:  Garland 23, Ebeling 14, Tocco 10

Albion played without MJ Barnes who was injured in the previous game.
