Final from Ashland VA:  Randolph-Macon 69  Trine 55

Not overly disappointed, the Jackets are pretty darn good.  Anthony and Mallory lived up to their hype, and Robertson off the bench always seemed to make big 3s for them.  For Trine, it was an uphill struggle pretty much all the way.  Losing Cox to an ankle injury in the 1st half didn't help.  But they didn't pack it in when the Jackets went up big.  Cut it to 9 late and had an open shot from three to cut to 6 but missed.

Good expierence for the Thunder to take on a squad like Randolph-Macon.  Can only make them better down the road.  Great season Thunder!!

Thanks, everyone for your interesting information and reviews on a most interesting season.  I have enjoyed skulking about this year.

I found it rather interesting that apparently the same Koby VandeWoude that is coming to Calvin scored 29 points in a playoff game last week.  Sounds like a scorer!  But he is also listed as a forward at 5' 10".  Sounds more like guard at that height.  Can it be correct that he has been playing forward at a good sized high school?

Trine commit:

Grant Pahl  6'3 G  Southview HS, Sylvania OH

Both Pahl and earlier commit Ryan Preston from Fort Wayne Carroll HS are solid 'gets', both are 1st team all conference guys and have other post season accolades.  I've seen Preston play a few times his soph and junior years.  He's in the 'Nick Bowman, Bryce Williams, Aiden Warzecha' mold.  Great defender, passer, can shoot the 3 and also get to the rim with hops.  Only averaged about 11 ppg but played on a high school team that has a future D1 guy in junior Jalen Jackson who was Carroll's go to guy.

They'll both gain great experience playing and practicing with Seniors Nick, Bryce, and Aiden next season.  Then by their sophomore year will be counted on a lot more as we'll graduate a lot of guys after next year.

VanderWoude is definitely a guard. He did a lot of the ball handling for his team this year.

Updated commit list.  I too questioned KVW (typing it like that feels a bit like KVS and GVW had a kid  ;D ) as a F, but found him listed as such online - corrected to G:

MIAA guys.... What are the plans of this year's seniors?

Are they going to graduate and end their College basketball experience?

Will some come back and play, finishing up their degrees, or adding on academic work to the degree they've already earned?

Could there be transfers... play a fifth year at another school offering graduate work in an area of interest?

I'm curious if any significant trends are showing here or across the D3 landscape....
This assumes that I'm correct that this season does not count as an eligibility year played...

I'm curious as to how this plays out....

I asked the same question in the CCIW room.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Great question!  I will eagerly await and answer from someone who knows at least some of the players plans.  My guess is that all or almost all will go on to other careers.  Unlike some divisions I players who are being paid at least significant scholarships and thinking about professional careers in the sport, basketball for most the Division III players is just a fun part of growing up.

I haven't heard anything new since the season, but at that time, Hope had one male and one female big impact senior that were still up in the air on returning in the fall. Not sure if and where either landed on that decision. Both have circumstances in which the financials of another year at Hope is a relative non-factor in the decision process.
Let's go Dutchmen!

Per Twitter:

Nolan Finkbeiner - 5-9 PG from Hemlock High School (MI) - will attend Olivet next year.  Nolan was a 4 year starter in HS and reached the 1000 point mark on Feb 21 this year.
