What are the chances of Elmhurst hosting next weekend? Would be a large contingent of Calvin fans there.

17 turnovers compared to 3 last night and only 16 of 25 from the line, but it helps when Morrison goes 7 for 10 from deep and pours in 37.  Go Knights!!
As a team, 57.1% FGP from behind the arc.

Really good night when you shoot 57% and your opponent shoots 18%.

I'm informed the Sectional is being placed at Case Western in Cleveland. A head scratching choice.

This is why you should always put in to host, even if you don't think there's any chance you ever will.

They apparently put in to host the regional.  Is there a separate process to apply for hosting a sectional?

My understanding from my ticketing days at Hope is that a school has to put into host in order to be considered regardless of the round. It is possible the facility isn't available, or they don't have the staffing or are unable to host for some reason (on Spring Break) so did not submit for consideration.

It's a fair bit of paperwork. Some schools, if they don't think it's likely, just use their time elsewhere.

Calvin gets through the opening weekend by playing two great games but in vastly different ways. Shots weren't falling on Friday like they were on Saturday but Calvin avoided empty possessions with great ball security and took full advantage of their opportunities from the line. Calvin wasn't as strong with the ball - to be expected and to Platteville's credit - but the offense was prolific, particularly Luke Morrison.

Before the game I said to KnightSlappy that to have a chance at the big upset they would have to get one of Morrison's 6-10 from 3 games, not the 2-7 he was on Friday night. Morrison ended up going 7-10. That'll do, Luke, That'll do. The three point shooting and 37 total points stands out but Morrison was also noticeably more aggressive on the boards, coming down with a team high 9. It was just a terrific all-around performance from the MIAA first-teamer.

For a season that has had some highs and lows, it's very satisfying to see Calvin play some of their best ball and make a tournament run. That's especially true with such a veteran roster that will see a lot of change next season. Next season can worry about itself, this one is still going!

Interesting to note that Massey favors the Calvin Knights next weekend.

Interesting to note that Massey favors the Calvin Knights next weekend.

Massey favors:
Elmhurst by 3 over Calvin on a neutral court.
CWRU at home by 2 over Calvin.
Calvin by 3 over Mary Hardin-Baylor on a neutral court.

(CWRU at home by 4 over Mary Hardin-Baylor.)

A big thank you to KnightSlappy for pointing this out and for personally advising me that, for some reason, my Massey predictions showed 2023 rather than 2022.  This is comforting in a couple of ways: 1) Massey didn't get Calvin's chances accurate this past weekend so the Knights will probably do just fine this coming weekend, and 2) Calvin is already predicted to win this same pod next year.  That is putting a lot of confidence in Calvin's underclassmen, coaching, and recruiting efforts.  All of this is really great news.
