Hard to understand Why Thad was on the bench for the final sequences.

Shymanski and Sensenig were substituting offense for defense the last couple mintutes of the game, starting with just over two minutes to go after Thad hit a couple free throws to cut the deficit from five to three. That seems to mostly have worked until the final possession. Calvin got the stop down 2 but were out of timeouts and with no stoppage of the clock Thad was stuck on the bench as Calvin tried to find a final shot to tie or win the game.

Elmhurst moves on to the Final Four with an 87-84 OT win over Mary Hardin-Baylor. Congrats to the Bluejays!

Elmhurst's defense on the final possession against Calvin was no fluke. UMHB's last chance in overtime looked about the same.

The Bluejays defended UMHB's final, potentially-game-winning shot at the end of regulation with that same sort of tenacity and smarts.

Even without either of our MIAA reps, it's great to see a liberal arts college Final Four: Wabash (883 students), Elmhurst (2748), Randolph-Macon (1230), and Marietta (1396).

Also some regional pride for us and our numerically contiguous brethren as the Final Four comes down to:
Region 7 vs. Region 6
Region 8 vs. Region 7

Yep. Next weekend's games in Fort Wayne will be a real showcase for midwestern D3 basketball.

Of the 10 players on the first and second team, 5 are listed as seniors. Not sure which of those seniors have an extra year of eligibility to use and which used it this season, but of the other 5, two are coming back to Hope next season!

Anyone else from this board planning to spend the weekend in Fort Wayne as a neutral observer and general fan of Division III basketball?
