Several, somewhere between a few and many, voters clearly mailed it in based off nothing more than last year's finish.

Ok ok, I'll give. Although I would not hesitate in the future to refer to 5 people as many, debating on semantics diminishes the overall point. Edited.

I don't think 20% of voters qualifies as "many".  ??? ::) :P ;D

Alma roster is up - 31 on the roster, guessing it later gets split into Varsity and JV.  The roster includes all 4 of the known "recruits".

31 guys on a college basketball roster?! I wonder what the focus is for that program.

It does look strange even if you figure it turns into a full varsity and full JV rosters down the line. I count 16 listed as JR or SR but then you have two SO in the top portion of the roster with player numbers listed, one of whom started a handful of games last year. Typically a JV roster would be mostly freshmen with maybe a sophomore or two. This all looks very crowded.

Many voters clearly mailed it in based off nothing more than last year's finish.

If many did, then you'd see Marietta and Elmhurst in the Top 10.

In fact, this "many" is actually four or five.

I think 16-20% of the voters is enough to use the word many.

Not necessarily. "Many" is a function of a raw number, not a percentage. For example, 50% of 2 is 1, and 1 isn't many. I don't believe 4 or 5 qualifies as many either. Just one man's opinion.

FWIW: The highly esteemed Mrs. OldKnight agrees with me -- red letter day in my life for sure.
This is hilarious . . . and even a Hope fan can agree with Mr. and Mrs. OldKnight.

Love it - and a bit perplexed that while I agree 4-5 is not many relative to 25, I also think it is true that too many voters did this :)

I will admit that I both have...

1. Spent too much time today on the internet trying to figure out a more exact definition as to how much is "many" and...

2. The internet agrees with Mrs. OldKnight and my use of the word many was inappropriate. The internet has informed me the correct order of ambiguous value ranges goes a couple, a few, several, many, then most.  "Several" clearly would have been the best choice given the number of voters in the debated situation. I will be more careful in the future :)
