Will the South/Unity state QF to be played at Calvin have more fans than the Calvin/Hope game?  Discuss.

Been a bit but I thought Unity and GR Christian sold out the Noord a couple years ago.  Surely Unity and South do the same.

Actually, it was Unity Christian who beat South Christian in the state quarterfinal game at VNA in 2019, played before a jam-packed arena. Noah Wiswary (who most recently has been a starter at Olivet), was Unity's point guard that season, and they went on to win the state championship four days later at the Breslin. I'm thinking its South's turn this year to return the favor, win the QF game, and win it all later this week.

Evan Thomas will be playing in the NABC All-Star game at noon on Saturday in Ft Wayne.  HOPE he gets along ok with the coach he has for that game  (KVS) :)

Evan Thomas got the start for Team KVS!

Playing pickup basketball gives one opportunities to observe others' athleticism, and also their character. Some players' priority is getting the ball so they can immediately shoot. Others prioritize setting up teammates with picks and passes, and seek to include everyone. (I've observed ministers and seminarians and other working folks in both categories.)

I was reminded of those me-centered vs. others-centered character types when watching only the first five minutes of the NABC Division III all-star game today. In the just-concluded first half, there were 94 attempted shots in 20 minutes, reflecting that whomever brought the ball up court often just shot it. On "Team VandeStreek" three players together attempted 30 shots with but one assist. For the other team, two players attempted 17 shots with zero assists.

Evan Thomas had assists (in my brief viewing, he was always looking to find teammates), and was the only player to attempt no shot. When this game ends he won't make any scoring news (and no matter, this was a meaningless game played just for fun and to celebrate the skilled senior athletes). Even so, I surmised, his humility and other-centeredness wins the character contest. And such will serve him well as he enters UofM Med School, and in the arena of life beyond.

Very exciting news today.

So happy for Jalen Overway being chosen D3 National rookie of the year.  I believe that's a first for an MIAA player.

Also, so pleased to see Evan Thomas was able to wind up his collegiate career experiencing what it is like to play for a championship coach.

Boy, we did not feel the same there. It is definitely an All-Star Game and an exhibition but there was actually a pretty good amount of guys playing defense and running an offense compared to previous years.

Good to know, Pat. As I said, I only watched the first five minutes of run-and-gun, and then noticed that the first half stats was lots of shooting with few assists.

Team Hixon made a good run from 10:00-5:00 in the second half, largely on the backs of Ty Prince and Austin Grunder locking down on defense. Sadly, it didn't continue when they subbed out for the final shift.  This was one of the least showboaty AS gamez in recent memory.

Adrian's De'Ovian Price has entered the transfer portal.

That's a blow for the Bulldogs.  Adrian was already losing Kendall Bellamy,  Obidiah James and Jonathan Duvall were introduced as Sr's on Sr day and Victory Sheffey who may be out of eligibility anyway sort of disappeared early Feb. and removed from the roster.   With Price potentially leaving that means replacing 3 of their top 4 scorers on an already offensively challenged team.

The game was a sell out (4500 tickets sold).
