Kyle Blauch 6-7 F Boulder HS in Boulder, Co will attend Hope.

Kyle appears to have taken D3 visits to Whitworth, Hamline and Hartford.

My knowledge of Colorado high school basketball is as extensive as my New Mexico high school basketball knowledge so beyond him being a rather big 6-7 kid I don't know much about him.

<UPDATED> In the previous post I have added a column for roster. to indicate where they "landed".  There are a number of ways that rosters & teams appear to be handled:

Calvin, Hope & Olivet - each have both a Varsity and a JV roster
Adrian, Albion, and Alma - each have a single roster (I labeled as Varsity) but alo have a JV team which is obviously made up of players from this single roster
Kalamazoo - has a sinlge roster and NO JV team
Trine - has only a Varsity roster, and no JV roster available despite having a JV schedule (been this way for several years)

So what does that mean - I suspect that the majority of the Trine recruits not listed on the V roster, are likely on the unpublished JV roster.  Leaving out Trine, there are only 3 recruits out of 53 that are not on a roster.

The real measure of recruits will of course come when the season is over, and we can look at their actual stats - which I will of course comeplete at that time.

Lastly, there are of course new freshman players (I didn't validate if there are some unknown transfers) on rosters that weren't in our recruit list (Unknown Newcomers).  Here is a list of those players (NOTE:  Kalamazoo & Trine did not have any of these unknown newcomers in their rosters):

Thanks, FDF, for your devoted digging and diving into the data dumpster of MIAA men's hoops. Should be yet another exciting season. I'm getting my first look at the 23-24 Knights at a scrimmage tonight at VNA. Davenport U is providing the competition.

When does it start?

Are there other scrimmages besides Ferris State next Friday at 5?

And is there a rock climbing competition at the same time? That could present a problem.

Calvin 'won' both 20 minute periods tonight in the scrimmage vs Davenport. The first period was 42-27, and the second was 41-38. Calvin went 11 players deep in both periods.

Overway, Bult, Varnado, Egekeze, and Riemersma were the starters. Ressler, Winkle, Harvey, Ewing, Ambrose, and Scott came off the bench. Logan Van Essen is in a walking boot.

There was a final 10 minute segment in which both teams only played the guys at the end of the bench. Davenport won that.

Davenport is a below-average D2 team, but with more height, strength, and speed than you are likely to find in D3. Last year they were 7-21. They would have been about #50 in D3, according to Massey. Still, a victory of a D3 team over a D2 team is always notable, especially if it is by 18 points. (Caveats that this was only a scrimmage, of course.)

Next Friday's scrimmage against Ferris St will be a sterner test. Last year Ferris St was #31 in D2. Massey makes them stronger than any D3 team and even stronger than some D1 teams.

I was able to get a quick peak at the Calvin-Davenport scrimmage (I had dinner plans with friends so had to leave after the fist 20-minute stanza), but it was enough to get the saliva flowing for the upcoming season. The Panthers starting five had plenty of talent but they didn't play very well together and their bench was thin compared to Calvin's. It will be interesting to see how the Knights fare against Ferris State, a far more gifted and well-coached group than Davenport's. That game is an exhibition, rather than a scrimmage.
