Due to KresgeKrazy's misunderstanding of his gas gauge(E does not mean enough, and F does not mean F****d) the Board of Trustees meeting was delayed.

Due to time constraints only a couple of measures were voted upon

1) Air Cramer will only be recognized by the Super Sweetness HOF if and only if it shows a picture of Cosmo Kramer on the jumbotron before or after the video replay.

2) All complaints about brand new multi-million dollar state of the art gymnasiums will be held in the same light as complaints about officials after your team loses.

3) Due to the fact Hope College Cheerleaders led disccusions on this board, the Hope Calvin Rivalry was moved down the all-time rivalry match-ups to one spot below Klu Haywood vs Rick "Wild Thing" Vaugh.

Meeting was called to an end when ESPN flashed across the bottom of the screen some guy named Bill Walsh was named head coach of the San Franciscio 49ers. Word is, his offensive background will limit the success of the 49ers. Look for him to be fired after only 3 or 4 years.

i thought  hope would drop down to 8  or 10  and albion number  2   a couple  of tuff  road game for hope this week and next
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

MIdoubleA

I was suprised too, I figured Hope would have dropped farther and Albion would have gone 1 or 2. Oh well, 2 MIAA in the top 5 is pretty darn good!

:D

Point taken.  Every Gym in the MIAA will feel like a closet for Hope fans from now on.

Wish I could make the trip on Wednesday to see the new place, but my schedule just won't allow it.  Hopefully Adrian shows up and at least makes it interesting.

Pat Coleman and others-
Do we know why wins and losses against Tri-State are not counting as an in-region game?  I thought Tri-State was beyond its provisional membership status in DIII.  They do show up on the NCAA's sponsoring institutions list for DIII.  What am I missing?

It is not beyond its provisional membership in Division III. As the note on our Tri-State pages says:

"This is a provisional Division III member in year 2 of the 4-year provisional period. Games against this school are not regional games."

Right you are, Pat.  I thought that Tri-State achieved a provisional DIII membership status at the same time it became a provisional member of the MIAA, which was back in 2002, hence my confusion.  Thanks.

Yaz, love the show.

Brits number 3????  What the heck do the Brits need to do to get a number one ranking.  Coleman, what's with this horse*&^%?

I would kill to play in your new facility, Hopefans!  My closet is bigger than Kgymnasium.  Is it hunting season in Holland?  What's with all the orange?

Headline - Childrens' character Barney has been chosen as Albion College's new mascot.  He is also pushing to change the school fight song to "I love you, you love me."  Coach Dave Egnatuk is not amused.  Coach Jody May loves the idea saying, "Coach Turner has always been a big Barney fan."  Supersweet!

Old Snake

It's hard to believe Hope only fell to 4th in the current Top 25 poll after the complete butt kickin' given to them by Albion last week.  I'm not sure the Britons are the 3rd best team in the nation, but if Hope is 4th, the field is really weak.  I also don't get d3hoops.com's fascination with Hope's Andy Phillips.  Even before his injury last yr. it was clear Albion's DePree was far and away the best player in the MIAA.   Yet,  Phillips was placed on the pre-season first team All America team. This year Phillips was again given pre-season status as first team All America,  far ahead of Albion's Brandon Crawford, yet Crawford is clearly the best player in the league.  I saw the Hope-Albion game; Phillips was a non-factor, while Crawford was dominant(20&l0).  What's up with that?

Carl Yastrzemski

Pre-Season All-American teams are not worth all that much. They are based on potential to have a great season. As many people know, potential can be a dangerous word for an athlete. If I recall correctly, two years ago, Phillips was the league MVP? Therefore the potential for All-American status is there. However, it is Crawford that is playing lights out.

Old Snake relax and everything will work itself out.

Flying Dutch Fan, there may be more to the story of the transfer than is mentioned. He may not have been eligible when he left Eastern Michigan. That would be one reason he hasn't set foot on the court for the team out West.

KresgeKrazy watchout, you may soon become He-Who-Not-Be-Named part deux. ;)

Fresh off of espn.com: Albion College hires Mike Turner as head men's basketball coach. Coach Turner at his press conference states "this is just a stepping stone job for him. He wants to get the program going in the right direction and then move up to the NBA." Only plans to be at Albion for 5 or 6 years.

KresgyKrazy...
I do find your gym to be a bit of a cage.  Are there any plans to play in the Dow Center on Albion's Campus?  You do seem to have a nice home court advantage playing Kresge.  The fans being right on the court and all.

Speaking of gyms that are cages, has anyone seen the old gym at Wittenberg?  I was there when Hope played in '96.  The old gym must have been incredibly difficult to come in and win a game there.  Probably couldn't have fit more than 1000 fans in there.

I'm sure the new digs in Holland are awesome.  I have to make it to at least one game this year.

Did anyone else feel that the annoucers for the Hope/Calvin game were predominately pro-Calvin?  I realize this could be construed as me being a poor winner.  But for the past several times I have watched the WGVU broadcast they have seemed pro-Calvin.  But Grand Valley is closer to Calvin than it is to Hope.

Tom Cleary has always been pro-Calvin and too judgmental of the officials when they make non-Calvin calls. This has gone on for at least the last 5 years I've paid close attention. He needs to watch some old tapes of Warren Reynolds from WoodTV8. But Brent Ashcroft (Fox 17) has been getting better every year as the sideline reporter, and does a nice job.

For that matter, the GR Press writers (Howie Beardsley especially) has always been too pro-Calvin, and I was suprised with his Sunday column saying Hope "manhandled" them. He must be taking some lessons in impartiality.

But of course, the Holland Sentinel writers (Alan Babbitt of note) sometimes tends to be objective when talking about the negatives of the Dutch while biased when they're doing well.

Of note in the Hope recruit section on Saturday: Derek Van Solkema, Steven Kratz (Ludington), Dustin Miller (Marshall), Alex Wolf (Parchment), John Mantel (Chelsea), a few kids from Traverse City St. Francis, a few kids from Utica/Eisenhower, a kid from Florida, and DAVE KOOL?????
