Still at Knollcrest because Calvin would have the better record against the next highest team (2-0 vs Albion, while Hope is 1-1 vs Albion)

I didn't think that's how it worked. I think the MIAA "Final Four" is hosted by the top remaining seed after the Wednesday games are played. I don't know why Calvin would even want to host the Friday games if the Knights aren't even playing.

Is there a forum that discusses MIAA sports not found on D3sports.com?

"I just went to the local Christian bookstore and ordered a WWKVSD bracelet. I went a little crazy and got mine in Orange and Blue."  NW Hope Fan - That was definitely the quote of the week!!!  Once again, mega Karma to you (I have to give it to you this way because I have not yet  been awarded Karma Status yet!)

SAC - Preach it Brother!!!  Maybe we should now refer to you as "Rev. SAC" or "Brother Sac"....  Your words were right on, from the heart and as many have already said, time for this subject to be categoried as history and we all move on.  SAC - many of us have too much respect for you, so once you hit the boiling point, I thank you for sharing from you heart and as I paraphrase from your words on this issue, "Something just had to give."

In regards to DVS, I have only seen him play a few times in HS, but never at EMU.  But from the looks of watching him on the court this past Wednesday, he looks pretty happy to be out there. From what I also understand he's very happy to be at Hope vs. his prior situation (which I don't know a ton about and don't really care to).  But if he has done what has been asked of him (come to practice, practice hard, get the feel of the Hope team, sit the bench for a while in street clothes, sit the bench in a uniform, etc.) then let him do what makes him happy, and that's play basketball.  That's what the other 100 plus guys are doing on the other MIAA Basketball teams, they're playing basketball because the love it!

Postings have been quite fun of late.  Kinda reminds me of trying to give a bath to a cat!!!

Do-the-Dew -  Rumor has it your picture was in the National News as you cheered on my Pittsburgh Steelers.  Hey Carl Y., when are we going to hear about the Steelers winning the Super Bowl???

Happy Friday to you all!

I said it before, and repeat it agin.  I don't care if DVS plays or not.  GVW made his decision, and he has to live with it.  All the Calvin guys are saying is they are glad DVS isn't on their bench (a quick check of the records indicates they are doing okay without him).  Calvin has had it's share of controversy over the years, and it cost them in wins, and good potential players.  Intelligence is learning from your mistakes, and wisdom is not making them again. What about other's mistakes?
Rather than getting filled with indignation perhaps some posters should calm down and realize that not all Calvin posters are your enemy.  We just don't want to hear any Hope poster lamenting a "wasted" season etc. if your tourney run is short, and citing DVS as a factor.  Or questioning your own coach either!

Calvin might not want to host next weekend if it loses next Wednesday but it doesn't have that option.  As far as I know the MIAA regular season champ hosts the MIAA semis and finals regardless of whether it plays in those games or not.  I believe that on the women's side the highest seeded team left hosts the title tilt.

I had never paid attention to there being a different court in HS though... something new every day.

Well, I kinda thought this subject would die but apparently it hasn't.

I don't know why people are making such a BFD over this. Out here in the rest of the country kids transfer in and play all the time. My alma mater had three in the span of five years.

Sac hit the nail on the head, in my mind, when he talked about the kid losing eligibility. Why should we do that to a kid who's not on scholarship, playing for the love of the game?

I think the Calvin fans arguing the other side of this issue are clouded by the holy war and need to clear their heads.

I wonder what would happen if somebody made a cartoon picturing a Calvin or Hope player dressed in a priest outfit with a bomb on his head.  I wonder if the UN would get involved?

The issue isn't whether a transfer should play--it's narrower than that. The issue is whether a mid-season transfer should play during the season of the transfer. Reasonable minds can differ on that question and reasonable minds can also have their bias come into play when evaluating it. That's true whether you are a fan of Calvin or Hope.

You're right - the issue is much narrower than that.  The issue is whether or not you trust your coach to do what is best for his team. I can tell you that my answer would be 1000% yes.  Anything else is pure speculation.

- and seeing the speculation of some of the posters around here, I would suggest that they avoid playing the stock market!!  ???

A reflection on the transfer discussion (which I agree it's time to move beyond):  The Calvin posters still seem to be assuming that this was a decision imposed on the team by the coach, rather than his being welcomed onto the team by the team after consultation conversation with the team and its captains.

The Bilk, there is a MIAA forum at Mlive.com.  It's really not that active though.

Tomorrow afternoon the Hornets are really going to have to force Calvin into a low scoring game. This game can only be won in the 50's or 60's. Anything more will be a sure loss. Calvin was 12-20 from 3pt range and Kzoo 5-22 (almost half of thei attempts) in the first game. I think K has gotten better defensively over the 2nd half of the season. K's going to have to guard the perimeter with good help defense.

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Try a little change of pace for the board.

It wasn't until 1998 when the host team didn't win the Championship in the league Tournament. Which came about from a great final minute comeback by the Brits over that orange school to the West. Since that ESPN Instant Classic, only twice has the host team won the championship (both by Calvin). What will happen this year?

The registrar's home page on Calvin's website has listed a new class for the fall semseter. Coaching the KVS way aka Right Way vs Every other coach's philosophy in the country 101. The syllabus is already available for those who are interested. Looks like some great discussions for the month of October. Enrollment in the class is limited. If you wish to add the class after the first day of class, you must sit in the back, participate in discussions, take notes, do assigned readings, however you will not receive credit for the class. Rewarding those who come after the original class roster is made, is not the KVS way.  ;)

This seems like a Church Council meeting--"let's move on to the next issue as soon as I have my say about the old one."
