Is Fun Ron a Calvin fan?   If so, why was he sitting in the Olivet section last night?  Were the other 4,000 seats filled?

Calvin's new roman numeral I warm ups looked sharp last night.  ;D  ;)

Life would be boring if everything were orange and Cubbie blue.... :D

Ah, but see...now that I know you enjoy Cubbie blue, could orange be so far behind?   ;) ;D 8)

And for the record (as if anyone cares) I was in Wrigley Field the day Elvis died...(I had nothing to do with it, I swear).   ;D

Any way we can get Steve Bartman to show up to the game in Hope colors tomorrow night?

Briton Backer -

Kakaty wonders if maybe Fun Ron is one of the Calvin fans that has to sit right behind the visitors bench because it's the only place that allows him to see the court - unless it's a women's game, where apparently he can see the court just fine from the other side.

I disagree, I was very close to Olivet's bench.  I thought Soderberg was excellent during the time outs.

Thanks for another point of view.

Kakatay,

Love the picture. Makes you look tall.

The "dividing line" between the visiting section and Calvin section is pretty close to the visitor's bench.

I think whats interesting about last nights FT parades in GR and Albion is that I don't believe we had a game come close to those FT totals in the regular season..........and despite a touchy call here or there I've really enjoyed the way they've let the kids play this year.  Hope's had several games where neither team reached the double bonus.

If anyone cares my favorite official (oxymoron) is probably Joppie.  The Big Ten Football referee is my least favorite, and I'm actually glad others have noticed.  I'll say this though, for most of the last 5 years a few people on here have been harping for change.....and we've got a larger and more varying crew of officials working games now.

If I were Soderberg and had to watch an opponenet shoot 31 times in 14 minutes........I'd be a little hot too.  Must have felt like a trip to Assembly Hall,  mid 80's.

Very interesting takes on the Olivet matchup.

If Fun Ron was sitting about 15 rows up, behind the metal dividing bars and the walkway in the upper deck of the arena, I would agree, he would not have been in the visitors section.  However, my guess is that he was sitting in the visitors section if he could hear what Soderberg was saying.

Apparently we're the only ones with a problem with the officiating.  According to this press release

And for those of us attending tomorrow night, we get to enjoy a ceremony honoring the guy (Joe Cooper) in charge of all the stripes   :o

There is a lot of complaining about the refs here.  Guess what?  Refs don't play the games.  The players do.  If the refs are calling a "bad game", you have to play through it.  It sounds like Calvin did that last night and Olivet didn't.  I bet if Olivet kept it together they would have pulled out a victory.  And whoever said that the offciating was questionable at the Hope game last night is out of their mind.  The officiating was actually very good.  I kept hearing people in the stands getting upset at stuff that wasn't there at a point in the game where it didn't matter (Hope was up by 20).  I hate to break it to you but both Hope AND the refs don't want anything called at that point.  They just want to be done with the game.  I'm afraid that fans and players put too much on the refs.  Like I said, you have to play the game and not the officials.  You're not going to get every call and you're actually not going to be right on every call...that goes for both refs AND fans.  I would challenge all fans to watch more basketball and understand the game better.  Nothing annoys me more that an ignorant fan who's yelling at the ref when the call was actually a good one.  Know the rules and know the game.  You'll enjoy it that much more.  There will be some great games this weekend so ENJOY them!

Two questions for the board:

1.  Why does the men and women's tournaments have different structures to their MIAA tournaments?  In the men's the top seed host the semi's and the finals.  The women's top seed left in each round regardless hosts.  This seems odd that the same conference handles things differently?

2.  This question is in regard to the Calvin women.  Was Kelly Trewhella a mid-season transfer or did she transfer to Calvin in the fall?
