I was impressed by Cash at the second regular season clash at Kresge.  The guy was money ;).  Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week.  Tip your waitress, try the pork.

Thanks, FDF.  Someday when I have more than 200 posts, I'll return the favor.

I'm glad to see this board is finally starting to talk about basketball and ignoring whiners like Briton Backer.

After this weekend's games, can we all try not make the topic about how the refs did?

Quote from: dren on February 22, 2006, 11:51:04 PMyes... the cubs will win the 2006 pennant... I can hear Ron Santo now "the cubs with the pennant... the cubs win the pennant..."

No, that would be Pat Hughes shouting, "The Cubs win the pennant! The Cubs win the pennant!" His partner Ron Santo would be shouting, "Aaarraaaragh! Alllll riiiight! Arraaaghaargh!"

Believe me, I have played out this scenario often enough in my head to know.  :D

Has anyone else spent the last 4hours in a the cubs "vitual waiting room" waiting for the tickests that went on sale today?

Don't get me wrong I enjoy looking at the top 25 rankings and I am sure a decent amount of work goes into creating them, but how much weight do the D3hoops.com rankings really have?  They aren't part of the NCAA selection process.

Maybe some of the D3 hoops big dogs could comment on this topic.  Do you know if the selection committee personnel like to frequent D3hoops or is the website considered an organization with no authority and legitimacy in the eyes of the NCAA.

The selection committee personnel do frequent this site. However, that doesn't mean our Top 25 poll has any weight in the selection process -- those are two separate issues.

Yeah right.  It's an age-old reaction to any game with suspect officiating.  If Albion wins by a wide margin, I like any other fan would write: "Albion put it together for a great win tonight."  If Albions wins narrowly, I would write: "The refs were bad, but Albion was the better team tonight.  They were able to play above the officiating."  Now if Albion loses by a wide margin, I would write: "The refs weren't good but they weren't the reason we lost..."  And if Albion loses narrowly, my hair is on fire and d3hoops censors me for some four-letter action (that has never happened by the way).  Then don't get me started on how the opposing team's fan responds.

The point is that everything on this board constitutes a natural fan reaction for better or for worse, which includes questioning the officiating for the loss.  Maybe it's a blame game; it's the rush to proclaim victimization.  But frankly every game isn't well officiated.  It's impossible.  And any game that comes down to four points or less, even if it is decently officiated, you could argue the officiating was the difference.  You are only talking about 2-3 calls then potentially over the course of 40 minutes.

I agree it gets old, and officiating is out of the control of fans or coaches or players and rest singlely in the hands of the MIAA conference officials.  However, it's easier to preach and not whine when you have one loss in the league and that one loss was a game you were never in contention to win.

I wish the whole topic could be avoided but it's absolutely impossible.

Oh, and by the way, if Albion loses then I'm pretty sure it's because we got jobbed by the refs tonight.  You heard it here first.   ;D

I just want everyone to know that because of how much I love our chat room I went out and made a couple of WWKVSD? t-shirts-and I will be sporting one tonight. I hope to get some good karma for this.

[ And Scott Richardson (who hurt his ankle in the last game...any updates?) is as good as they get coming off the bench for your big guys.

I talked to Rich after the game on Wednesday, and he said he would be fine, and would be playing Friday night. But for anyone that knows him, you would know it would probably take a gunshot wound to keep him out of a game, especially one as big as this.

WWKVSD t-shirts....hilarious.

How much would you be willing to sell one for?

albionfan

I got them made for $10  I suppose if people really want them I can go get more made. They are pretty sweet. ;D
