Some random thoughts:

Civic Minded, I totally understand; it was just tough to watch especially for a guy like Palmer who was a real team player for Albion over the years.  Thanks for your comments.

I did muster the strength to look at the box score and low and behind Andrew Holms played last night despite being in street clothes for this and every other game this season.  Apparently the scorer confused Dean Raven for Andrew Holms.  Andrew Holms was the single biggest cheerleader on the bench all year.  I look forward to seeing that great attitude and leadership on the floor next year.

Oh and for the record, the officiating was good last night for the Albion-Hope game.
---
Cramer's dunk was impressive.
---
Albion did manage to pull within three with say five minutes to go and was shooting free throws.  We missed both, and Hope was able to put some distance on Albion after that.

devossed: I thought I would note that one of the refs in this game was Kooiker so it's nice to see that my argument in his favor and your willingness to move him to the "A" list of MIAA refs seems to have been validated.

One of the huge factors in that game was free throw shooting.  Albion was 7-17 from the stripe, make 5 or six more freebies and it is a completely different game.

NB: Does Wed. night versus Olivet ring any bell.  A nice lead dwindled down to 3 thanks to turnovers, missed shots, and a stupid foul on a 3.  My point is sooner or later Calvin will lose one of the close ones.  Calvin has a history of watching games they had in hand become much closer than was necessary.

Realist--you are right, but my point is we still won!  But a worst case scenario?  I'd rather struggle with a big lead than to be behind and have to struggle back in the final seconds (oh, we won that one, too) ;)

Ok, in an effort to buy my way out of the Karma basement, I'll ask it this way...

If I root for Calvin or Hope, which one will get me more Karma points?

In either case, I'm looking forward to a fun game tonight and really hope the atmosphere is great.

Also hoping/looking forward to meeting some of the posters on the board.

Regardless of my Karma efforts, good luck to both teams tonight.

Just announced that Calvin still has 200 or so tickets available on sale at 1:00 at Calvin's box office. Those of you without tickets get down there.
We want this to be a sellout so Knollcrest is absolutely rockin!!!

So, I must admit that I am bit nervous. From what I have read and heard from people Calvin shot poorly in the Olivet game and the K game. They were just the better team and pulled out victories. I firmly believe that Hope is a better team than Calvin, but I am worried with all their shooting woes they will come out tonight and have the best shooting performance of the year. Calvin always seems to do that against Hope. Personally, I will still predict a Hope win becaise they are playing really well right now with a clear purpose and I like to see that. They are determined and it is hard to beat a determined team. I feel that Calvin has hit their max potential and they are satisfied. They are satisfied with a regular season championship and an NCAA bid. They are just glad to be there. I dont see that with Hope. Hope was supposed to dominate this year and be really sweet. They are not satisfied with a 2-loss season. They want more. And so do I. Bring it on!

The positive karma you receive from one side will probably be negated by the smiting you receive from the other side.  Just enjoy the game.

I'd really look at that as 7-16, because Palmer went 0-2 somehow got the rebound, got fouled and went 2-2 (which wouldn't have occurred without the back-end miss)  But that's hair-splitting.  You are correct.  FT shooting hurt us.

JR-Selling your soul for some karma...hilarious.

Thank you for your initial feedback--I truly did have Kooiker confused with another yonger ref in the league and am almost flabbergasted to have made that mistake. The "real" Kevin Kooiker is a solid ref, and I can say that after seeing him for multiple years now. And yes, he solidified himself on the A-List last night!

It seems like there's more Hope fans that have 200+ posts that are then able to give Karma then Calvin fans.  You better announce you want Hope to win!

By the way, do any non-calvin or non-hope fans have a preference who wins tonight?

I'm personally just hoping that both teams play well tonight.  From the looks of it, both teams should get into the NCAA tournament, so the game is really only about pride.  I won't take sides today, best of luck to both teams.

RaR:  I can fully understand being a bit nervous or apprehensive.  One can picture any number of possible scenarios.  Personally I think 3 are most realistic, and Hope comes out clearly ahead in 2 out of 3 of them, and the 3rd is a coin toss.  Hope seems to be holding most of the cards, but Calvin isn't likely to roll over and play dead, and that is the same as 2 weeks ago.  I really was pulling for Albion to play the game of the year last night, but Hope didn't allow that to happen.  Hope deserves lots of respect. I will be happy if Hope should win this one that Calvin win's the one in a week or two!!

Hope v Calvin in the MIAA Tournament

93---Calvin 77 Hope 69  MIAA Semi at Calvin
95---Hope 71 Calvin 60  MIAA Championship at Hope
97---Hope 67 Calvin 65  MIAA Championship at Hope
02---Hope 70 Calvin 63  MIAA Championship at Calvin
03---Hope 82 Calvin 81 OT MIAA Semi at Albion
05---Calvin 82 Hope 61  MIAA Semi at Albion
06--? ? ? ? ?

As you can see these are typically close games, no secrets after 2 previous meetings anymore.  Plain and simple effort and determination are going to win this one.

Anyone heading to DeVos for the other MIAA Championship this afternoon?
