it became a more significant hit than I think Voison intended. He immediately went over to Meckes to check on him and to apologize. Meckes quickly signaled "That's OK" and everything seemed fine between them. I thought both showed good sportmanship there and they defused a situation that easily spins out of control when more hotheaded players are involved. As fans who take these games so seriously we should take a lesson in self control from the players sometimes.

Amen to that one!!!

Hey oldknight, if you were a bit brighter you would have pointed out that the actions of Voison and Meckes perfectly mirrored the central co-principles of the Christian faith--repentence and forgiveness.   :-[  In view of the fact that the two schools involved claim allegiance to these basic principles, it was nice to see this and it speaks well of the two players involved.

I won't bother to point out that the offender requiring forgiveness plays for Hope, and that the magnanimous forgiver was from Calvin.  :-X ;)   That because of another Christian principle "I will remember your sins no more."

DVS is not a true point guard.  He does not have a point guard mentality.  He is a 2 guard playing the point.

Well stated.

It always amazes me when people say that they won't bother to point something out, and then in the same sentence do it anyway   ??? ??? ???

I think we all know that already. But thanks for sharing. And of course thank your highly placed source.  :D

It's even more amazing how easily some people take offense and can't laugh at a joke.  :'( :'(

d3hoops.com is starting to get overloaded.  It may be easier to go through d3sports.com to see the selections.

I finally caught up on all the weekend's postings. I guess everyone else did nothing all weekend but attend the games and post, but I didn't have the extra time to do the latter until now. Nice to see Hope playing solidly going into the big dance. If they could put some games together combining Friday's second half and Saturday's first half, they'll put some hurting on some teams. My teams were only 1 for 3 on Saturday as Woo and UM also fell, but given that Calvin was involved, I got the one I wanted most. Plus, now Hope has a better chance to avoid travelling to Ohio too soon with the COW loss.

I sat by Coach Dav to watch the second half of Calvin-Kzoo after dinner on Friday and asked him if he had a rooting interest or was just scouting neutrally. He said that Hope did have a favorite and "it wasn't who I might think" (Calvin, though I wasn't really surprised). The line I got from the Hope camp was "we owe them one." Well now we know what that "one" looks like. Clearly the team was just as focused on getting back that 1.7 seconds this time around.

I was also going to post that it was sad the officiating throughout the championship game was so atrocious. I didn't see any favorites played, but it was just bad in all possible directions. Call every little thing for a bit, let them commit murder for a while, forget the definition of pivot foot (was I the only one that saw guys sliding their pivot foot numerous times?) I'm guessing that Whitfield who everyone is referring to was the official with the dark balding hair (remember I don't know any of these guys by name). That was certainly who everyone in the stands was pointing out as the worst of the refs. Thankfully Hope put the game far enough out of reach that it's hard to argue the refs affected the outcome, but it's really a shame they got that level of officiating in the biggest MIAA game of the year.

In Hope's past NCAA runs, I've heard talk about "senior urgency." They apparently didn't have enough of it in 1995, but had those seniors getting their last shot in '96 and '98 when they went deep. This year, Immink, Phillips, Voison, and Carlson are getting their last shot. Hopefully those guys can bring that urgency to the whole team and lead the way into March.

Finally, I did see the WWKVSD shirt on Friday night. I was only 50% sure albionfan was serious that he had printed the shirts, but looked very nice. Hopefully what KVS does won't include being able to get revenge on Hope in the NCAAs.

The time to start worrying about that is now.  ;)

As a Hope fan, I want Calvin ASAP. Especially since it will likely be at the DeVos this time.
