Limited number of tickets also now on sale at Calvin's box office beginning @ 9 this morning that we received from Hope. Thanks Dutch for your Christian generosity! Oh sorry, just NCAA rules. But, at least you're abiding by them.

No wonder you are in negative karma, it has nothing to do with being a Calvin fan (see oldknight, realist, and goodknight), it has to do with being a jerk.

If Calvin was hosting this weekend, would you be sharing a bunch of extra tickets that the NCAA rules do not ask you to do?  I would assume not.

IIRC, when the Calvin hosted the game at Van Andel, it took your school a while to sell all of the tickets to alums but you did your best not to share more than the number of agreed to tickets to Hope.

Do I have a problem with that?  Of course not.  That is how it works.  When you are the home team, you try to keep as much of an advantage for yourself and your team.  Not to mention that in this situation you want to reward your fans and students for being loyal to the team through the years.  I would expect nothing less from the home team, as long as they try to stay within the rules.

Oh and about your comments towards sac, I never saw him say that he wanted Calvin to fall tomorrow night (although you stated that you wanted Hope to lose), just that he thought it would happen that way.  I think it is fair to say that most on this board know sac's track record and know that he says who he thinks is going to win regardless of his desires.  And usually track record is a big part of karma, sac gets the benefit of the doubt, you will too when you are up at a level of posts and respect built up over 100 to 200 posts.

Be careful to judge people you don't know. All my comments were said in fun & to prompt spirited responses. Someone needs to take a chill pill & enjoy the fun of the NCAA tourney. Also, read some of Sac's comments with an open mind instead of a biased one & chances are you'd interpret many of them the same way I did. As to the number of posts, in most cases it just means those individuals need to get a life. As for negative Karma, as I said before, if that means I can't express my thoughts give me all the negative Karma you can muster.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  If we're not going to be free to pick who we actually think will win the game, then what's the point.

I basically see the Calvin/LAX game a toss-up, and am looking forward to a great game.  I might give Calvin a slight advantage due to their familiarity with the arena and fan support.  On the other hand, Calvin struggled in two and 1/2 games last week.  I'm guessing a 5 point or less margin of victory, and hoping for overtime.

Thanks for proving tniem's point - and that's the same lame response I get from my 14 year old when he gets caught - "I was just kidding" aka "it was just said in fun"

Of course you had the completely unbiased view to anything Sac said about Calvin, right KNIGHTmoves?

As a neutral observer, let me make a suggestion. If you're going to make tongue-in-cheek comments, use the smileys. Words on a screen don't often convey tone or nuance very well, and they're often taken at face value when they weren't meant to be taken that way. That's especially true in a room where the rival passions between two schools in particular run high and nerves are often rubbed raw by the partisans on the other side. The cool kids may all sneer at the use of smileys -- I always feel a bit like I'm demeaning myself when I have to resort to using them -- but at least smileys make your intentions plain where the words themselves might be misleading if taken at face value. Otherwise, you can't really take someone to task if that person is led by your words to "judge people [they] don't know."

I wonder if the UW-LaCrosse and Wisconsin Lutheran people are aware that they're wandering straight into the line of fire? With the skirmishes heating up and all-out conflict just over the horizon, woe to the cheeseheads who heedlessly cross the battlefield in Netherlands-By-The-Lake.

World War Four. It's supersweet!

Actually Greg, the cheeseheads are already plotting to create even more sectarian violence with the use of strategically placed IED's (internet explosive devices) on the MIAA chat board in the hopes of diverting Calvin and Hope fans--currently holding to an uneasy truce-- from our first mission, Friday night victory over the hoary hordes of infidel invaders from across the lake. If this first mission is successful on Friday then there is plenty of time to plot our internecine athletic and religious engagement for Saturday.   ;) :P :)

Apparently the WIAC people successfully detonated those IED's I was talking about.   :( >:( :o :'(

Good point Mr. Sager, although I'm not sure all of my fellow posters will believe me even when I use them now. I was a big poster in years past but am now a newby once again & need to learn how to play the game.

It's time to eliminate the Wisconsin insurgents. Go Calvin, go Hope. Wipe out the guerilla invaders from across the lake!  ;)

Luckily, we have a bunch of 18-22 year olds that are going to settle all this for us in the next 2 days.  And then all the focus will be on the surviving (if any) team.

In the spirit of ecumenical fellowship, let me offer Hope the best of luck playing against their 8th seed opponent.  Should be an easy game. ;D  ::)   8)  :D   ;)

Please don't mind me while I barf from the sticky sweetness in here   ;D

Love the idea of eliminating the Wisconsin schools, since my most recent Hope tournament memory was the loss to Oshkosh.  Lets go out there and cut right through that cheese!!!

OK, now we're having some fun! Sorry if I rubbed some people the wrong way. Anyone who knows me realizes that was not my intent. Be very thankful Calvin & Hope fans. Fans of most teams never get to experience the exilleration of the NCAA tournament. We are spoiled & I absolutely am loving it!!!
