My random thoughts for the night.

-----Tonight was fun but I'm not totally sold on this regional concept, Calvin deserved a home game out of this deal, on the other hand the NCAA did give us a better overall draw moving teams around more.  So maybe its a push.  :-\........but then again the ticket situation wouldn't have been as tight without 4 teams there tonight.

----The tallest and biggest man on the floor tonight in the Hope game had zero points at halftime.  That about says how badly WLU was outmanned.

----Pretty amusing to see people lining up at halftime to buy tickets for the next game.....of course its not just any other opponenet..............and I didn't have to stand in line. ;D 8)

----My thoughts on officiating, I thought both the MIAA teams had a little trouble adjusting.  I'm not sure what it was but it was a little different than MIAA officiating.

----I'll echo FDF's praise for the WLU fans and I'll add the LaCrosse fans (though mostly silent)  There were quit a few more there than I expected.

Sac,

And like several dew crew members at the Kalamazoo - Calvin semi-final that sat with the Hornet students & cheered vigorously against the Knights. Of course I admit I would have done the same thing if the situation was reversed, but you failed to point it out so I thought I would bring it to your attention.
Go Knights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. - Hope 1 - I see you already have tomorrow night's game in the win column as well???
Hmmmm - someone refresh my memory as to Hope's record vs Calvin in the NCAA tourney??? Can you say 0 - 4 boys & girls!!!
That's why they play the games

Low class move of the night goes to the parent who had her approx 7 year old
daughter steal the big yellow hat off a Calvin student.  The 7 year old then runs the full length of the court to give it to a stunned Dew Crew member.  The 7 year old returns to her seat and gets a high five from her mother. An usher should have embarassed the mother by making her walk the hat back over to the Calvin student or telling her to leave.

......or you should lighten up!  a lot!  ;D

Gosh can you imagine if I'd asked the Calvin ushers to throw out the kid running around the Calvin gym waving that flag last weekend.
Maybe I'll bring my 9-year-old daughter to the game tomorrow night and she and the little hat-stealing cutie-pie from Hope can go toe-to-toe at halftime.   :D

Seriously, anyone comes up with some intel on that cable access program don't be afraid to share it with the board.  Big win for Ferris State hockey tonight.  Beat the Buckeyes 3-0 ....

Seriously that was the best $5 I ever spent and my niece deserved every cent.  She is a strong negotiator... I spent the entire 2nd half trying to bribe her to run over and snag the hat starting with $2.  When I was 8 I'd of run across the floor mid-game for $2.  She wouldn't bite...  In the first timeout of the half the big yellow hatted guy sat down and set the hat on the floor....  I said "Look at that..." "Look at what?" "Look at that hat... he's taunting you, he's daring you to run over and take it... too bad your a chicken... baulk baulk baulk..." she laughs...  A couple more minutes go by and I pull $5 out of my pocket and tell her "five bucks... this is the highest I'll go"  "Okay" she immediatlly replied.  I made her shake on it and promise to run over durring the next time out.  Which she agreed.  The plan called for her to just casually run over and snag the hat off the ground ... if he wasn't going to play any D just go for the kill...  at the next buzzer She brought her 3yo sister for support and headed for the Knight Court.... only the problem this time was the entire section was standing.... lucky for us she is quick on her feet and mumbled "bleee bleh bleee blaaaah"... prompting the big yellow hatted guy to bend forward and say "huh?"  Our 8yo superhero seized the opportunity and snagged the yellow hat rushing it to the Dew Crew for safe keeping...

Great Job CW, you make your uncle proud.

Much better are the simple antics of the Hope/Calvin rivalry that I enjoy... both sides..

If thats the "Low class move of the night"  I'd like to nominate the spray painting of Anchors and Garage as "Low class move of the season"

For the second time in one night I was witness to the amazing sight of seeing Hope fans cheering a spectacular Calvin play. What's this world coming to?

Yeah, but most Hope fans were all clapping whenever LaCross scored.  Not that I really care or anything.....

I'll be the first to admit that I was cheering for Calvin... it is hard not to cheer for good basketball plays... the half court bank shot at the buzzer... PHENOMINAL!!!  If you see 20 games a year... you see probably 25+ buzzer beater attempts, but how many times to you see them go in?

dren, that is a sad story.  I'm not sure what type of religion classes they make you take at hope, but all I have to say is: 8th commandment.  Plain and simple.

Here we go again..............painted anchor, destruction of property...........naw never happened. ::)

Dudes and dudettes its a fricken foam hat made in some third world country by some kid probably the age of our theif for about 5 cents a day.

lighten freakin' up.

sac

The box scores are out.........you can find a link here MIAA.org

VanderHeide 17, Phillips 13, Cramer 12........Marcus almost scored as many points as minutes played  :o

Wisc Lutheran shot 17% in the 2nd half and were just 6-25 from trey.

Attendance: 3435

Calvin was outrebounded 47-31, but only commited 8 turnovers to LAX's 17.

Hope and Calvin will meet for the 4th time this season for the second time in history.  The other was in 1981

1981 Calvin 85, Hope 66
1981 Hope 70, Calvin68-ot
1981 Calvin 67, Hope 57
1981 Calvin 69, Hope 67

Definately a rare event..........should be a blast with two supremely confident teams playing each other.

Is there any  ticket scalping for tomorrow "knights" game?

I was just wondering... I heard there was a hook up from Calvin....

GoKnights68

Just think that this could've been the 5th meeting if they played each other in the tourney at Van Andel arena during Thanksgiving break.

sac

We almost got that too, had AQ hit a last second shot... :-\

Three is nice

Four is awesome

Five is just getting greedy ;D

Should be one heck of a contest.  The Hope crowd tonight had weird feeling about it like tonight was just the tuneup to the inevitable confrontation with Calvin.  It was strange.

I agree with ya there Sac. I think the elderly fans get disoriented when they have to switch seats  ;)

Well, here we go again...Hope-Calvin IV.  I'm going to go on record early and say that Calvin doesn't hand the Dutch their first ever loss in The Dick.  It'll be a close game (too close for the Hope fans), but Hope will have just enough to get by the Knights.  Hope by 5.  Best of luck to both teams.
