i dont know how many actual "recruits" Hope will actually bring in....put yourself in the position. You are a HS senior, and GVW calls you up and is interested. You go watch a game, and hear about the program. Hope is bringing in all these transfers and the transfers are getting significant playing time. How do you know that Hope wont bring in more transfers that will steal your playing time?? just my opinion.

Also, heard a rumor that some Hope players might be looking for a new place to play......

Sorry, my attention has been focused on the Denver Christian class of 2016.  Hopefully, we'll have a 6'4" shooting guard headed Calvin's way.  Right now, we're just hoping he gets his two front teeth for his birthday.

Is this recruit a done deal or is it too early to call?  :-X Is growth hormone therapy a viable option?  ;)  Big shooting guards are great but a dominating post player is even better. ;D

I think he's ready to commit.  The time he spent with Caleb and Tim Katt over the holidays pretty much cemented it for him.  The problem is the 529 college savings account.  I wonder if growth hormone therapy works in the financial world?

Pretty reliable source.  He spoke at Calvin's commencement last year and it's not George W. Bush. :-\

If your source has over 750 H.S. wins, I think he would be considered reliable

I think it stands at 775 at last count.  Amazing.  That's 40 years at just under 20 wins per year.

Calvin played several games over the Christmas break in Denver.  So this young man has some idea what he is getting into.

We had the opportunity to host a couple of players during their visit (two diaper dandies, one a Hope killer).  It was a great experience and great for my kids.  In fact, they still exchange e-mails.  If you ever get a chance to do something like that, I suggest you jump at it.

DenverKnight; a question:

Because of the good research of Shareef23 I have read a couple of articles on Denver Christian's team. Do you know anything of the plans of the Matthies twins who apparently were the starting guards on that team?

I spoke with a DC assistant coach yesterday and asked him the same question.  He said that he doesn't think they have had much interest so far.  Size may be an issue for them since they are only six footers.  However, a lot of six footers can really play.  Especially in D3.

I know Veenstra was behind the bench at the Calvin-Hope game at Calvin. I would assume that he would go to Calvin just because he's a Veenstra. I have heard that he needs a year on JV. Which IMO would take out Cornerstone and possibly Hope for his recruitment. And no problem on the research. I did find a CO recruiting website and he was not among the top 75 seniors in the state and not even on the honorable mention list of 25 or so. Take it for what it's worth. It seems to me that any kid, who 6'8'' on a state chapionship team and seems to put up solid numbers, would have to be in the top 100 in the state.

A couple of comments:  DC is a pretty small school, 3A.  That's probably equivalent to a smaller Class C school back in Michigan.  Maybe even Class D (if you guys still have the same classification system as you did 15 years or so ago).  There weren't many guys on that list (if I was looking at the same one as you Shareef), from 3A schools.  A handful, maybe, and most from Kent Denver (a country day type school) that DC beats every year.  Also, Coach Katte is a Dean Smith type, so one guy never puts up really huge numbers to get noticed.  I doubt that Andy Draayer would have been listed as top 100 in the state his senior year either and he turned out to be a nice player at Calvin.

The result of too many Calvin posters with the ability to hand out Karma  ;)

Does anyone know if Calvin has had Jonathan Huizinga in for a visit.  He's
6'6", from Timothy Christian, and was 2nd team all-state according to the Chicago Sun Times.  I saw him play last year as a junior and he was very fundamentally sound.  He had excellent footwork for a low post player.  He also can shoot a mid range jumper.
