Hopefan, they do have a website.  Here is the Blast roster:

Here is the roster for the Flight, the GR team:

Enjoy.

Gerald Dozie from Olivet is on the Battle Creek roster.

Just looking at some of the others there is a big time lack of D3 players on the rosters, most of those guys were D1 or D2, lots of MAC guys.  More NAIA players than D3.

Although by my name I am obviously a Michigander, my home board is the CCIW. I'm having a bit of trouble understanding all this brouhaha over transfers. Are people suggestnig that the decision of a 16-18 year-old should be a life-time commitment?

In terms of mid-season transfers, I understand the qualms, but we're not talking pre-school soccer here. The best players are the ones who should play the most. If a mid-season transfer is among the top 5 (and has learned the system and fits in that system), he should play; if there is dissent about that then either the players disagree with the coach about who the best players are (which would be a different post!), or else the source of the dissent is the demoted player, NOT the transfer.

If anyone disagrees with this analysis, please point out where I am mistaken, rather than simply further lowering my karma! ;)

Everyone knows where I stand on this....it had zero impact.  DVS didn't come in to Hope and play right away, he sat for 5 weeks before takeing the floor and when he did he was clearly.......and I mean CLEARLY the 2nd best point gaurd Hope had.

Catch 22........if GVW doesn't play VanSolkema people would be questioning his judgement for not playing someone that good.

29-3, MIAA Tournament Champs and Sweet 16 of NCAA tournament.  I don't see what the problem is.

Seriously, I have karma to burn.  Hope1, please work on the grammar a bit.  I usually don't care but it is impossible to understand you.
Careful, friends, when making such remarks . . . especially when one knows nothing of the age, education, or personal circumstance of the poster.

wiseknight - thanks for leading me to those sites  -  a couple of other names I was familiar with  -  hope Diehardfan notes one of her Wheaton players, Jonathon Steven, is on the HollandBlast - wonder what the circumstances were that led him up north from Illinois?
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

The Lansing Capitols have

Hodgson, Peter F 6'5" Hope

I don't recongnize that name.  Was he a JV'r?  When did he play for Hope?

Pat Coleman

Google tells me there's a person by that name in the Hope Class of '92, but doesn't tell me whether he played ball.

I'm gonna have to check out one of these IBL games... it looks like basketballs version of the XFL...

"The International Basketball League is a second year professional basketball league featuring two rules that reduce dead time: 1) one timeout per quarter 2) an immediate inbound. The result is an athletic game that is very fun to watch. The IBL scoring average per team in 2005 was 127 pts per game."

Sounds like a good time... if you don't like defense.

Long Shot

What's shocking to me is seeing guys like Ben Reed and last year's Horizon League player of the year Ed McCants in a league that seems pretty low-key. Couldn't guys who did so well in college be making a lot more money overseas or even in the CBA?

hope1

i dont know that name  maybe  fdf   or civic know who he is
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

Ben Reed played for Western Michigan and Ed McCants began his collegiate career at Northwestern University and spent his last two seasons at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he was named Horizon League POY his senior year.
If you're asking about Long Shot, well, maybe FDF or Civic could help you there.

Flying Dutch Fan

I'm pretty sure (almost positive) that Hodgson is not a Hope alum - infact I talked about it with Greg Immink at the game, and he was also sure that was wrong.

You might think no defense - but there is a 22 second shot clock, and only 8 seconds to cross half court.  Both teams were pressing and the D was better than you might expect.  Definitely better than most NBA games - and a lot of fun to watch.
