Mr. Ypsi

Whoa!  Just a short time after they were a national joke, and riding a decade+ streak of losing seasons, is it suddenly time to 'Break Up The Tigers'?! ;D  This afternoon they completed a 3-day demolition of the Twins: combined score, 33-1!!  (And this despite that fact that Babe Ruth imitator Chris Shelton has been ice cold the last couple of weeks.)

Sorry, Pat, but it has been a L-O-O-N-G time since a Tiger fan could gloat after a series against the Twins!

Pat Coleman

Yes, not since before, say, 1987? :)

But seriously, I hope heads roll in Minneapolis over this disaster.

QuoteProbably nothing from Timothy.  My alma mater sends most of its kids to Trinity.

I lived with a couple Timothy kids my JR year.  According to them, Calvin was the choice of the "partiers" from Timothy.  I'd suspect Calvin brings in about 7-10 kids from Timothy every year.  That's enough to develop a recruiting base.

Pat:

Re: the DI bowl games - technically you're right.  However, there actually is a "get real" point to all that.  In reality, the DI bowl games would not be sanctioned by the NCAA if the bowl administrators were not willing to abide by NCAA rules in many aspects.  And while perhaps the roster situation as you relate is not like the other divisions for these "post season" games, my point is that they should be, to be consistent with the "philosophy" purported by the NCAA.  In that sense, my argument is justified.  At any rate, IMO, this is just another example of the hypocrisy and confusing regulations by the NCAA.  On the other hand, I guess I should complain as much since at least we have a playoff system in DIII - and that is better than nothing.

Its way up from my time.  I believe it was just me and one other girl form my class that graduated.  I believe we started with 5.

Dex Battista (Utica) to Wooster

According to this he should make an impact ... of course, I have it on the closest authorit that the author hasn't seen Wooster play since 1996 ...

Losing Battista is a big blow for Hope as they were after him all season long (I remember seeing him at least 2 times in Devos)...not sure about specifics, but I'm guessing the Hope financial aid office didn't come through yet again...

Quotenot sure about specifics, but I'm guessing the Hope financial aid office didn't come through yet again...

Hmm....one of the few times Hope's been in on a guy they really wanted and the "financial aid office" didn't help out.  All those boosters must be working on their cottages or something.

Please. Do you work for financial aid? Do you work for the admissions office? Do you have any idea how the inter-workings of Hope go? Unless someone speaks up and actually works for any of these offices for any school, I don't think any of us have any reason to place blame. It's pointless to scapegoat an administrative office because some kid didn't choose Hope.

My only point was that Hope's usually able to come up with scholarship money if they really want a kid.  Maybe they didn't feel this guy was worth the reach.  I have no idea and I've never seen him play.  But rest assured that if there's someone out there they really want, there's no way that person is paying full sticker price.

Here's a thought.........maybe the kid wanted to go to Wooster. ;D

This is nice......
