I think the 15th is correct -  which is a Sunday.  For Hope, that means they start on the 16th, I would assume the same for Calvin.  How about the other schools?

If Gov. DuPont's research is on the level, I'm not sure that "props" is what ought to be given to Calvin students -- or any other American college students, for that matter. Instead of props, a lot more homework might be in order. Calvin students are merely among the best of a bad lot. According to this WSJ column, you college kids are not worthy of being the future caretakers of this great republic of ours.  ;)

That 3 of the top 4 were D3's is minor consolation, but you have a good point of these being the best of a bad lot!

Good grief -- isn't it October 15th/16th yet? :P

I am worn out from waiting for this next season to get rollin.'

Hearing some rumblings about who's around, who's not around...getting anxious to find out who really shows up that first practice day at each of our respective halls of higher learning!

Question:  Is Hope going to have their shorts down to their ankles again this season?

Did someone pull them down???  ::)

No seriously... Super long "shorts" are kind of dumb, but would you rather them go back to the short shorts of years gone bye? Those were hideous!!!

Are you talking about the days of the "nuthuggers"?  I'll take the "clam diggers" over the "nuthuggers" any day!!!

These are "clam diggers" I found on the web... I'd never want to see Hope players in these!

Besides... I thought modern "shorts" look more like knickers than clam diggers.  ;)

When my kids laugh at the length of the shorts in my old HS basketball pictures (early 70s) I point out that in some ways little has changed.  The same amount of leg is still on display :).  Our shorts were admittedly skimpy, but we wore socks almost up to our knees.  Today the shorts are knee length (or longer), but the socks are ankle high.

I thought the very same thing the other day after reading goknights68's "complaint/question". Although, as we have also recently learned the length of leg has increased in the dutch young men, so maybe a little more leg shows... or the knicker makers realized this and made the "shorts" just that much longer!

Question:   are Calvin fans going to spend more time nit picking everything and anything about their rival or will they actually spend posting time on their own team and players this year?

Hey... At the very least Scott, it has provided several days of blah blah blah before we have much to talk about.

BTW Did you read about Wooster's recruits? Sounds like a fine class. What is the final word around the MIAA? Did everyone show up healthy and strong?

Haven't heard anything actually.  Kind of out of the loop this year and probably will be most of the year.

But if you want a good fall golf destination I have two.

Try Stonegate in Twin Lakes just north of Muskegon.  I was really impressed with this course this summer.  Its going to be a great facility in a couple years.   Love the tall Oaks that surround the course, makes a nice frame for every hole.

Hemlock in Ludington, quircky in places, but the isolation is nice and I suspect its a pretty course when the leaves change.  Might have been the best conditioned course I played this summer.
