They did say on the broadcast last night that the last 8 times a team has won the first 2 games on the road, they have gone on to win.

Mr. Ypsi

In the Free Press this morning they indicated that it had never happened in the ALCS, but gave no mention of other post-season series.

A comeback down 0-2 losing at home has never happened in the ALCS.  Note that the game has been moved up tomorrow due to the nasty weather here.

The Hornets open the season with their annual exhibition against the Broncos on Oct. 30th.  Should be fun

I  prefer to wear my "2006 MIAA Champions" shirt.  ;D

Its good to be back on the board again after such a long time. almcguirjr it's nice to be in good company again.

Is there any way that we can change the post topics from karma to the upcoming season. Who is the favorite-MVP-who has got the best shot to represent the MIAA in the Dance?

Now all I need is a couple of good arguments between shareef2323 and sac and I will again be reliving the good ole days.

When do team tryouts happen and rosters get set -- pre-Oct-15 or post?

I saw on the news this morning that Calvin has officially announced the 35 million dollar expansion project to the athletic facilities.

And what was the video to go with their report?  Calvin getting blistered by Hope early in The Game at the fieldhouse.  I wish they could have taken the time to fast forward to the end of that one!

Calvin has officially announced the largest building project in school history -- the modifications and additions to the physical education and athletic facilities, with a planned cost of $35 million.  The new arena seating capacity is tentatively set at 5000. Groundbreaking is scheduled for spring 2007, with use beginning in fall 2008.

Yes, it finally official.

"To meet the needs of the entire Calvin community the upcoming expansion
features a five-pronged plan, including:

1) a new arena
2) a new indoor track and tennis center
3) a new aquatics center, featuring a 50-meter by 25-yard pool
4) a new student health center
5) a significant renovation of the current Calvin Fieldhouse, resulting in a
new health and recreation center

Much of the money has been raised already to fund the entire complex, but
Calvin officials declined to name donors at this date, noting that some of the
donors are not yet ready for their names to be made public.  Calvin plans to
release the names of the major donors to the project later in the year.

The centerpiece of the newly approved project will be a new arena, tentatively
set for a seating capacity of 5,000.  It will measure some 175,000 square feet
and will replace the Calvin Fieldhouse, which was built in 1965, as the
homecourt for the school's Division III men's and women's basketball teams and
women's volleyball team.  That arena will be located almost directly east of
the current fieldhouse on what is currently a small, multi-use athletic field
(the location was chosen to minimize intrusion into a diverse woodlot that sits
north and east of the current Calvin Fieldhouse).

From the architects drawing these facilities are going to be impressive.  Looks like permanent seating on upper level with moveable bleachers at playing floor level.  Plans even include a climbing wall.  Hard to believe they are going to be able to do all this along with remodeling the old fieldhouse for just $35 million. :)

Stephen Cramer in my opinion has to be the favorite for MIAA MVP

I agree Cramer has to be placed on anyone's short list but when talking about MVP you have to factor in the team that eventually wins the regular season conference championship. The champ doesn't automatically get the MVP but being the most important player on that team sures helps. If I knew right now Hope would win the conference I would bet money on Cramer for MVP. But if Calvin wins I can think of the name of another guard with an outside chance. Hmm, who might that be? :-X

sac

Looks like a good plan over there at the Beltline.  Sure didn't take long for the envy to put money in motion.  ;D    I'm  glad capacity will be staying at 5000, I've always liked those MIAA tournament crowds of half an half Hope/Calvin fans.   Great atmosphere.

Didn't Calvin already redo the pool once?  Is this just a total redo now?

Any word on the mystery donors?  It isn't the family who's son thinks he be governor is it?

That would be awkward. ???   ;)

calvin_grad

Not sure exactly what you are thinking of, sac, but the pool hasn't been redone as far as I know.  There was talk of doing it this past summer (in fact we were told that there wouldn't be swimming lessons offered during the summer of 2006), but the work was never done.  From what I understand, they were waiting for more of the financial picture to come into focus.
