Looks like a good plan over there at the Beltline.  Sure didn't take long for the envy to put money in motion.  ;D    I'm  glad capacity will be staying at 5000, I've always liked those MIAA tournament crowds of half an half Hope/Calvin fans.   Great atmosphere.

Didn't Calvin already redo the pool once?  Is this just a total redo now?

Any word on the mystery donors?  It isn't the family who's son thinks he be governor is it?

That would be awkward. ???   ;)

The pool has not yet been redone --that's been needed for years now because the pool is too shallow for the most recent MIAA (NCAA?) regulations.

The largest donor does not have any gubernatorial aspirations, nor does anyone in his family.

Calvin has officially announced the largest building project in school history -- the modifications and additions to the physical education and athletic facilities, with a planned cost of $35 million.  The new arena seating capacity is tentatively set at 5000. Groundbreaking is scheduled for spring 2007, with use beginning in fall 2008.

So Calvin is going to facelift its athletic facilities to the tune of $35m ... which is almost as much money as NPU has in its entire endowment? Man, you people sure make it hard on a guy to obey the tenth commandment.  ;)

Last time I was at Calvin I thought I remember seeing construction signs and boarded up doors.

maybe the pool was just condemned?

There haven't been any boarded up doors, shuttered windows, debris-strewn lawns, etc. etc. Just wishful thinking on your part, I'm afraid. ;)

Probably number 3 also. ;)

Nah, I'm a good boy when it comes to #3. But I do admit to having an unhealthy interest in seeing whether or not Calvin and Hope fans will drive each other to break #6.  :D

If I denied number 6 hasn't at least crossed the minds of a few ( :o) that would be a violation of number 9. But rest assured number 7 is pretty safe between participants to the "The Rivalry."  :P

Is there any way that we can change the post topics from karma to the upcoming season. Who is the favorite-MVP-who has got the best shot to represent the MIAA in the Dance?

Stephen Cramer in my opinion has to be the favorite for MIAA MVP

I agree Cramer has to be placed on anyone's short list but when talking about MVP you have to factor in the team that eventually wins the regular season conference championship. The champ doesn't automatically get the MVP but being the most important player on that team sures helps. If I knew right now Hope would win the conference I would bet money on Cramer for MVP. But if Calvin wins I can think of the name of another guard with an outside chance. Hmm, who might that be? :-X

Cramer and Veldhouse might be the frontrunners in many people's minds I think that the play of Josh Meckes will have a huge impact on how the Knight's season ends up.
Zack Silas will also be on a lot of radars but the Britons need Evan Way to step up big for them.

Ah, but there have been flagrant violations of #8 right on the basketball court, in front of 4500 fans, at times.

Gregory Sager

I thought of that. But is a fabricated (literally) violation of #8 really a violation of #8?

Or perhaps you refer to the incident where the little girl stole the big styrofoam hat. But that gets us into "age of accountability" issues, theologically speaking.  ;)

Might not be a violation of number 8, but number 5 surely comes into play (irrespective of whether mom gave approval).  :D

Well, I was thinking of violations actually taking place on the court, during a game, by players!  :o

Sac:  Hate to ruin your fun, but Calvin has never envied anything on the Hope campus.  Granted you have a nice, new feildhouse, and for that we are very happy for you.  :D We never really liked the Civic Center.  ;D The original plan called for reworking the present fieldhouse, but ceiling height, and several other factors eventually worked against that plan.  Calvin  had a master plan for facilities in place before the De Vos was built.  Other buildings on campus were given priority over the fieldhouse.
When one compares what Calvin will end up with after spending the 35 million with the De Vos, at 23 million, if there ever was any green it may be located closer to the lake. ;)

Honestly.  Well, I'll give you Calvin fans a "10" for predictability.   ::)

Yeah, the GRPress article suspiciously went out of its way to make sure they pointed out the "master plan".   ::)

By the way for our friends at the other 6 MIAA institutions, they're refering to the 10 commandments above.  ;D

.......its a joke I kid, I kid.
