Every time I hear someone say a kids too small to play D1........I think about  Jay Burson at Ohio State.

And every time I think of Burson I think of him with that monstrous halo brace screwed into his skull after he was knocked to the floor in a game against Iowa and broke his neck.

You oughta think 5'5" (actually closer to 5'3" according to several of his instructors) Earl Boykins of EMU and now the NBA.

With all due respect to your Hurons/Eagles/whatever they call themselves these days.........Boykins had muscle and athleticism.

Burson was the malnurished kid down the street with the bad haircut and a jumpshot that if he took from 6 inches behind the line he'd airball it.

OK, you win!

As to the Hurons/Eagles/ whatever..., I'm a Huron.  They have chosen to become one of the 12,673 teams named Eagles, rather than the only Hurons, despite the express wishes of the Hurons (AND Wyandottes, same tribe) - PC run amok.

IMO, PC accusations are USUALLY just excuses for bad manners, but in this case EMU showed the bad manners by refusing to even meet with the elected leaders of the Huron and Wyandotte nations.  They caved to descendents of tribes that showed great glee in the slaughter of Huron (Wyandotte) members.

Oh well, what else is new?! >:(

So, if Hope ever decided on a mascot and chose the squirrel, would they have to get permission from the gray squirrel community of Holland, MI before they could use their likeness?  I bet they would be pissed off because they are depicting a "brown" squirrel.

And in reality the squirrels on campus are famously black... But are occasionally grey, brown, or combinations of colors. We'd like to think of our squirrels as black though.

So the grey squirrels could give a rip! But the squirrel costume in question was half a joke, and I suppose if was selected would have to be black, or it just doesn't make any sense...

Koetsier got a lot bigger this year it looks like all-around.  I bet he plays a 4.

Bigger in a good way?

Yeah I think so.  He put on weight, but a lot of that is probaly more muscle.  Also got a little taller it looks like.

You can read a bit of the history of these "dark-hearted tree terrors" on the scary squirrel world page.

In seeking the source of the "large, black-spiked squirrels...frequently mistaken for skunks" the site cites a 1999 study that concludes that the "tar-skwerls ... are from Michigan."

I wonder if this "sordid tale of treachery" of how these "bushytailed tarballs" came to infest [the east] really starts in our own Holland, MI?

"But whatever the source, the asphalt-furred demons have gained control of American towns and schools. And, wherever they are, so is there a clandestine cult of black skwerl bacchanals who writhe with pleasure everytime one of the chitterblacks gambols by."
