Not a very good drink to name your team after. Geez, triple sec and gin   :P
I'm 100% Dutch and Jager and Red Bull makes me fly (or gives me wings at least). Too bad it already has a name.
"I started to look around at the fans and the team and I was sitting in the back, and I looked around and everybody was having a good time and that day, it truly made me realize what Michigan was about. It took me down, it humbled me. It taught me how to be a Michigan man instead of Jason Avant."

Hope article

Interestingly buried in the article: Dan Holt's injury...I always though Marcus could play the 4 if needed, but that he was much better suited to the 3. I guess we'll see Friday night.

I heard the Dutchmen scrimmaged Saginaw Valley yesterday and beat them rather handily when the starters were in and played even with the 2nd/3rd teams, but no other details available...

Unless you root for the good guys...........then its 9 more days till THE GAME  and 15 more days till the season tip-off  ;D

By the way I was so pleased to see Hope kept its school record intact of consecutive seasons with a pre-season injury.........the record now stands at 154 consecutive seasons.  >:(

THE GAME....Calvin v. Grace Bible? You realize that it's possible that THE GAME won't even happen, if Grace Bible doesn't beat Benedictine on Friday.  ;)

I sort of think the reference was to a certain football game between Midwest rivals... no?

Sac!  I thought you knew!  Each year, one member of the newly appointed team volunteers to receive an injury.  I hear Holt is a really nice guy, and beat VanderHeide to the punch (although VDH tried).  The reasons are many -- teambuilding, buildng excitement/tension/drama for the fans, getting the rivals all riled up, and last, but not least, making sure we have something to talk about here before the season gets rolling!   ;)  Very thoughtful of them, really.  First program of its kind at the D3 level!   ;D

So is Holt that much improved from a year ago?.......I was surprised to hear he was vying for a starting spot.

I don't know if anyone saw the article about Kuyper College starting an athletics program in GRPress a few days ago but they'll be fielding men's and women's hoops teams.

So, coming to an MIAA schedule near you........Kuyper College.  First time I heard about the place was when I saw a sign for Kuyper College near the East Beltline on the Ford.............I thought maybe Cornerstone had changed names again. ???

You can rest assured that if Cornerstone had decided to change their name again, it wouldn't have been to "Kuyper College," unless they had  a major change of philosophy (opening of the eyes?  :o ) Abraham Kuyper was a famous Dutch reformed statesman and author. Among other things, he was "president" of the Netherlands and founder of the Free University in Amsterdam. In fact, if Calvin hadn't chosen the name Calvin, Kuyper might have been another option.

So, what is the chance that Kuyper college will go D3 and want to join the MIAA?  Why do the smaller places seem more likely to go NAIA? Do they really want to offer basketball scholarships? Or maybe, since they were a "Bible Institute" until last year, they should join the same conference as Grace Bible College.

sac

Article said Kuyper will compete in NCCAA, like Grace Bible.......don't know about leagues.

What high school will they play their games at?

Forest Hills East, Northern or Central?  Northview? East Grand Rapids?

Yup, I'm all riled up. ::)
No wonder Glenn has to turn to transfers -- too many volunteers on the shelf.

I just took a look at the Hope team photo, and was wondering if there's some sort of NCAA rule limiting the number of blue blazers in a single photo.  It was confusing for a moment, I thought I was looking at a USGA Executive Board photo.
