sac, thanks for the story.  I was seriously debating making the trek to Bloomington myself last weekend.  I know an alum from IU and he had tickets, but I declined on account of the lovely weather.

It's funny how I've been waiting all off-season for hoops to start up.   And here it is, the week before tip-off and all I can think about is The Game and how badly I want UofM to beat the crap out of OSU!!! ;D

I heard that Cramer took the tip against Voisin on Friday...who won that battle?

Cramer definitely out jumped him, but given that with his reach, Voisin has an 18 inch head start, he won the tip.

Hope looked really good - a very up-tempo game with lots of defensive pressure.  They are going to be fun to watch this year.  They also may be an even deeper team than last year.  Lots of interchangable parts, with many guys who can play the 2, 3, or even 4 (maybe a bit small).  Their play reminded me of the pre-Don Overbeek run & gun Hope teams.

PS II.....I stood next to Mike Hart and Lamar Woodley, they're each no more than an inch taller than me.........both however are about 100 times stronger and 10 times faster........and in Lamar's case, 1000 times meaner.

Huh?  Woodley and Hart are not the same height.

Al,

20 Mike Hart TB 5-9 192 4/9/1986 JR Nedrow, NY (Onondaga HS)
56 Lamarr Woodley DE 6-2 268 11/3/1984 SR Saginaw, MI (Saginaw HS)

Maybe a slight exageration on my part, but Hart is slightly taller than his listed height, and Woodley is slightly shorter.  The difference isn't as much as you'd think.

......or maybe I'm just used to basketball players. ;D

Judging the couple years before Overbeek arrived, I'm not sure how I feel about that  ;)

But I am happy to hear they're going to run more, however its been defense that wins the MIAA for about 10 years now.

I hear you there, sac.  Based on the Friday scrimmage, Hope will play not only an up-tempo offense, but also an up-tempo defense (if that makes sense).  If you're going to play the run and gun well, it has to start with the defense.

Sac,   I actually went to the UM-IU football game in 2004.  I also really liked the environment ad people down there.  I found easy parking also I remember.  They sure love their basketball down there.  I bet they were all talking about the number 1 recruit, Eric Gordon that they stole from Illi a few weeks ago.  Next time I go down there I'm going to have try to explore Assembly hall.  That place seems amazing!

We Hoosiers are born with a genetic addiction to the sport of basketball.  I can still hear my dear Grandma yelling at Bobby Knight via the radio (I think he actually heard her some times!) :D   So, if my passion for the dear Orange and Blue seems intense, blame her!   ;D

Based on attendence at Conseco over the past couple of nights, I have to wonder about the love of basketball down there ;).   ND vs Butler on Monday, and  IU/Butler last night.  Seriously, that place should have beeen packed.  I love the Bulldogs though. That Graves kid is a gamer.

Hell is defined as having 3 keys on your keyboard not working properly and all 3 are used in all of your passwords................aaaahahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! >:(

Good luck to our MIAA teams this weekend, I see some opportunities for good starts.  Have a safe weekend and lets kick this season off with some W's..........even for that team in GR.

I haven't heard but I assume Hope will have some kind of ceremony to recognize the National Champion Flying Dutch.......probably a banner or something.  Should be  a good time.

I've packed the body armour, mace, pepper spray and various other weapons of self defense, including my official MoC lint roller  :D.  I have the passport updated and ready for the border crossing into the land of psycopaths.  I'll be dodging Ohio's finest highway patrol officers and keeping the speed at a comfortable 64 miles per hour.  I'll be hopeing somehow I'll fall into another set of tickets for this fine rivalry as I always have but someting tells me I'll be watching this one from a couch.........hopefully one that won't be set on fire afterwards. ;)

Here's hopeing a couple rag tag football teams from Michigan can pull of a couple upsets this weekend.

SKOT

Be careful on your way home.  The speed limits might magically change to 63 if UM pulls off the win in the Horseshoe!  Or maybe the gun will mysteriously read 87mph (its been know to happen especially at the end of the month or the end of a "tragic" football game)!

Three keys (the trinity of technological disaster?) all needed in your passwords -- sounds like you've ticked off the big guy!   ;)

Hope will have a ceremony prior to the women's game on Friday to unveil the recently veiled championship banner -- should be sweet! ;D

As to your driving, I'll believe 64 when I see it.  How many more tickets can you get before they pull you license, anyway? :) 8)  (Do you still actually have a license?  I kid, I kid...)

Be safe! (Go Irish)

So if Calvin wins tomorrow night, they have a game scheduled at 3 during The Game?

I heard reports of Michiganders renting cars in Toledo so they can drive down with an Ohio plate, just in case.
