As of last weekend, the only construction right now is at the 80/294 split if you take 294 around Chicago.  Mapquest says to take the skyway through the city, but I wouldn't do that because of the construction on the Dan Ryan plus you miss out on the over-expressway oasis (how do you pluralize that?)!They are always fun.

Yes, if you're coming from the east the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) is infinitely preferable to taking the Skyway/Dan Ryan/Kennedy/Edens (I-90, then I-94) route thru the city, because construction is really backing up traffic on the Dan Ryan. Either way, you should give yourself plenty of lead time, since Friday rush-hour traffic will be very nasty on both routes.

FWIW--from the CCIW Pick 'em section, the only game up in the air seems to be Friday's contest between Wheaton and Calvin, which their prognosticators give to Calvin by a by a 7-6 count.  They overwhelmomgly pick Hope to beat Carthage (11 out of 13 chose Hope), and Hope to beat Wheaton (12-1), and unanimously picked Calvin over Carthage.  All of these picks came after the debacle at Knollcrest.

It occured to me that its been over 15 months since my last personal debacle with Chicago area traffic.  But your info will definately influence my choice of freeways if I go.  Thanks

Also, from another board looks like Hope is #5 in the new poll.........nothing like creaming your rival on their own floor to steal a few votes.  I'll take it but I thnk its to high.

The links don't work anywhere that I've seen so if anyone can find the supersecret password to see it ........let us know.

Hope at #5 is a big jump and great to see but I agree with SAC that it seems high. Hope seems very reliant on the big 3 and I fear what will happen against a decent team if one (or heaven forbid two) of the big 3 have a bad shooting night or get hurt. Although Hope's annual someone gets seriously hurt before the first game seems to have occurred already.

I can see how Hope moved up to #5, with a 3-0 record (listed on d3hoops.com), they get credit for winning games they don't even play!

Not only that, they didn't even report the score.......http://www.d3hoops.com/school_info.php?school=Hope&team=m

The substitutions in the PomonaPitzer and Cornerstone games were brutal. ;)

Calvin came in at #10......interesting that the voters seem to have rewarded Hope for a great performances while not punishing the Knights for what we all agree was an off night.

Nice Region to........Calvin would be #5 in the GL Region right now.

Although Pomona-Pitzer doesn't know the names of the schools it plays, thankfully our voter info system does and our voters only were sent the two games for Hope.

Though seeing a non-Division III team on Hope's schedule would hardly have raised any alarms.

I realize I am looking 2 plus years into the future. But after reading Pat's justified quip about Hope's non-D3 opponents. I wonder does anyone know if there are any plans for the CCIW-MIAA challenge to continue after the first 4 year rotation (year 3 this weekend at Carthage). Just curious as it gives Hope a chance to get some more in region games (good) or some more NAIA patsies (bad).

I'm not so sure we're giving Hope's team enough credit.  Sure, the "big 3" shone this past weekend, but there are several others who can and will put up big plays and big numbers.  Partridge is more than capable, so are Reimink and Klein.  Wolfe can also light it up when needed....I could go on, but you get the idea.  Hope doesn't need to rely on just those three players -- there are a lot of horses in the stable that can do the job.  ;D

Pretty impressive stuff - mens and womens teams for both Hope and Calvin are in the top 10.

Hope Women #2 (5 points out of first)
Hope Men #5
Calvin Women #9
Calvin Men #10

Those Dutch genes seem to be working   ;D

Does this mean we can officially begin our annual Hope schedule bashing?  Sweet.

Before we start I'll point out that next week's #1 Wooster chose to play 4 of their 7 non-con games available against NAIA or "non D3" teams.  Despite having 8 times the number of D3 teams surrounding them as Hope. ::)

Next week we can bash the Holland Civic Center.

We can, but such bashing has lost some of its charm. The Dutch have graduated to a full-length court.

However, secret Calvinist spies are already hard at work trying to find some flaw with the DeVos. (Any flaw. I hear there's a spot where the paint is already chipped. ;D)

Ah yes, that glorious chip!  I here that it's going to have a frame painted around it and then a banner hung in it's honor   ;)

Remember, if you can't find one in Holland, we've got extras on the East Beltline. :D Sorry, I know that's an overused groaner but I just couldn't resist. Oh, that's right, you can get your extras from the Lady Dutch. :)
